超越輪迴 Transcending cyclic existence

寺廟給大家提供學佛法、修行用功、種善根的機會，以培植福報，改變命運，讓自己的生命越來越能夠得到提升，得到凈化，使生命得到圓滿。在社會上很難有一種生命的引導教育，能讓內心的成長、改變有這麼大的力量，很難有這麼好的方法，有步驟地慢慢地啟發、引導。

The monastery provides opportunities to learn Buddha Dharma, practice it, and plant virtuous roots so that we can cultivate merit, change our fate, improve, purify and perfect our life. In society, it is difficult to find a life education to guide us with such great power that can nurture and transform our mind. It is difficult to find such a good way to inspire and guide ourselves step by step.

佛門裡面就有這種啟發、引導的方式。這些方法兩千多年來都是這樣進行的，比如我們在佛門裡面過堂用齋，就跟我們在家裡面不一樣，跟在單位里吃飯也不一樣。在單位里和家裡不可能有這麼多的人。如果人多了，在單位里吃飯就是一件很頭痛的事情。在廟裡面就不會，廟裡面大家吃飯都非常安靜，大家都能夠吃得乾乾淨淨，都能夠保持自己的正念。在廟裡面走路也好，說話也好，都和在家裡不一樣。這也是因為寺廟裡面的環境、場地、氛圍與外面有所不同。

However, in Buddhism we have such ways that guide and inspire us, which have been practiced for over two thousand years. For example, having a meal in the temple is quite different from that in a family or at a work place. It is unlikely to have so many people eat together at home or at a work place. At a work place, having so many people eating is a headache, whereas in a temple it is not. When eating in the temple, people remain quiet and practice right mindfulness, and will finish everything. In the temple, we walk and talk differently than from how we do at home. This is because the environment and atmosphere here is different from that of the outside world.

寺廟裡面的這種引導教育，跟社會上面的引導教育也有所不同。寺廟裡面的教育，宗教的教育，是跟人的生命有聯繫的。它不僅與人的生活有聯繫，也跟人的生命有聯繫。它讓我們去認識生命的狀態是什麼，什麼是我們的生命，如何讓我們的生命價值不斷得到提升。這就需要皈依三寶，就要發心，就要發大願。

Such an education in the temple is different from that in society. The education in the temple, an education of religion, is related to people s life. It is not only related to people s livelihood, but also to their entire life. It enables us to understand what the state of life is, what our life is about and how to keep improving the value of it. All these require taking refuge in the Three Jewels, having aspirations and making great vows.

只有發大願、發心，才能夠改變我們的命運，改變我們的生命。如果沒有發大心、發大願，我們三百六十五天都是在輪迴，天天都在重複。不停不斷地重複，就超越不出輪迴。如果我們有發心、有發願，有皈依三寶，有了對佛法的信心，我們的所作所為，學習、生活、工作，一切的福德、智慧資糧的累積，都會有方向、有目標，都能跟自己的菩提大願相應。

Only by making great vows and having aspirations, can we change our fate and life. Without doing so, we just live, 365 days a year, in a cyclic existence, each day a repetition. The constant repetition will prevent us from transcending the cyclic existence. By having aspirations, making vows, taking refuge in the Three Jewels, and having faith in Buddha Dharma, all our conduct, all we do in study, life, work, and all the accumulation of provisions in merit and wisdom will have their direction and purpose, and will correspond to our great Bohdi resolve.
