Alexander Graham Bell 電話的發明人 貝爾-October 6：美國歷史上的今天

On October 6, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant, Tom Watson, held the first two-way telephone conversation. They wanted to show how the telephone they had invented could be used in business.
Bell believed the telephone was a useful tool of communication 溝通 and not just a toy. The telephone, at that time, was in its earliest stage of development. Until this time, the telephone was a one-way device 設備. A person could talk and another person could hear, but they could not talk at the same time.
Bell and Watson used a telegraph line that connected a company s factory with its office. The distance was two miles.
The experiment was a success. In fact, their voices were clearer than they had been in the laboratory.
Bell tried to sell his telephone patent 專利 to the Western Union Telegraph 電報 Company for $100,000. The president of the company said the telephone was a toy, and he wasn t interested.
Bell was not able to raise 籌集 money by selling his patent rights. He decided to show the usefulness of the telephone.
Before long, telephone lines were hung. On July 9, 1877, Bell and his partners named themselves the Bell Telephone Company.
After Bell invented the telephone, he invented several other devices. He experimented in several different fields.
No matter what he did, though, Bell wanted to be remembered as a teacher of the deaf.
He died on August 2, 1922.
