Undergraduate Advising & Recruitment Coordinator

What your key responsibilities will be:

The position is housed in Environmental Design and therefore a portion of the responsibilities is directed towards Environmental Design services such as the Student Ambassador and Diverse Scholars programs. In this role, the Recruitment Coordinator will provide additional support to Environmental Studies and Geography to serve as a pre-enrollment advisor to the campus recruitment efforts provided at CU-Boulder.

The Undergraduate Advising and Recruitment Coordinator provides front-line advising for prospective students and their families. As one of our five advising staff members, this professional outreach and recruitment position services the 3 disciplines through a variety of outreach and recruitment responsibilities to help incoming students explore their interests and determine the academic program that is best suited to their long-term academic and career goals.

This position manages the ENVD Student Ambassador Program (8-10 student employees) and provides essential information about ENVD admissions and recruitment, making vital information available to the community through visits and presentations.

The Coordinator serves as the main advisor and program manager for the Diverse Scholars Program, which includes a caseload of approximately 60 undergraduate students. The recruitment & diversity responsibilities are designed to go hand in hand to reinforce the recruitment and diversity initiatives of the advising center.

In the course of advising students about the nature and content of the curriculum and professional disciplines, the coordinator also facilitates the development of mentoring relationships between faculty and undergraduates in the program, and intervenes effectively with students having academic difficulty.

The Coordinator also attends and participates in undergraduate academic advising meetings, and sharing program information with other college or campus units, and vice versa. This position contributes to ongoing development and updating of our undergraduate advising team s "best practices."

What we can offer:

The annual salary range for this position starts at $51,000 and will depend upon relevant background and experience.

What we require:

Bachelor s degree from an accredited undergraduate college, university, or non-correspondence school. A combination education and related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Proficiency in the following applications: Microsoft Office Suite especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; Drupal.

At least 3 years experience in higher education

At least 1 years experience working with historically underrepresented populations, diverse cultures and international populations.

Research Associate

This Research Associate position offers collaborative and independent research opportunities at The Comcast Media and Technology Center (CMTC) at University of Colorado Denver. The major responsibilities include providing leadership in the research, creative work, and service activities of The Comcast Media and Technology Center (CMTC). This position starts with an initial 2-year term as a joint appointment in the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Arts & Media at the University of Colorado Denver. Upon successful performance and appropriate funding generation, reappointment is possible.

This position reports to the Co-Directors of the CMTC (faculty from the College of Arts & Media and the College of Engineering and Applied Science).

Examples of Work Performed

Helps to establish a research agenda for CMTC

Leads and manages research projects to advance the center and involve students

Develop new research directions with Co-Directors and author research proposals to attract external funding

Articulate the goals of the center, both within and outside the unit, and advocate for the center, students, and the faculty in pursuit of these aims

Develops, plans, tracks and analyzes projects to advancew the research agenda.

Works with project sponsor(s) to define project success criteria, timelines, milestones and deliverables.

Manages multiple, concurrent and organizational projects.

Records and reports project results to the Co-Directors and other stakeholders. Also records and reports key data and other relevant information regarding projects as needed.

Maintains a climate that is collegial, that respects and values diversity, treats faculty, staff in a respectful manner while building a culture of creativity and innovation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a terminal degree (in computer science, engineering, design, visual or performing arts, digital media) or equivalent professional experience in a closely related discipline

Program Assistant

The Program Assistant delivers polite and responsive customer service, regularly troubleshooting and problem-solving engineering student, faculty and staff inquiries for the ITL Program and Laboratory. This role is responsible for a myriad of activities centered at the ITL Laboratory front desk, serving both the ITL and Engineering Plus (e+) programs and teams. Responsibilities include providing superior student, staff, and faculty service and administrative support to the ITL and e+ programs; troubleshooting and problem-solving any student, staff, faculty, and equipment issues as they arise; processing and reporting financial transactions; serving as a building proctor by handling facility and equipment maintenance in a hands-on experimental laboratory; processing course surveys; coordinating extensive skill-building workshop schedules; and scheduling courses, workshops, seminars, etc. in the ITL Laboratory classrooms and lab plazas. Cloud Solution Development and Training

Monitor, develop, and troubleshoot the use of general methods to deploy cloud frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, experimental networks) for educational and research needs.

Serve as a liaison for academic research computing systems such as CloudLab.us, ChameleonCloud, Jetson and campus cloud infrastructure as well as commercial academic programs, such as Google Cloud, Amazon Cloud, Azure and others.

Arrange specific cloud frameworks (Hadoop, JupyterHub, etc) for use by courses and research projects that can be deployed on academic research computing & commercial systems.

Assistant Professor

Responsibilities

-Support and teach courses across the range of programs including initial teacher licensure, MA, and doctoral programs and serve as faculty advisor for graduate students.

-Teach a combination of K-6 literacy courses in the licensing and MA areas, PhD or EdD programs including, but not limited to: Elementary Literacy, Reading Development, Instruction & Assessment; Literacy Assessment & Informed Instruction; Writing Development, Instruction & Assessment; Primary Literacy; Literacy Across the Curriculum, Children』s Literature. A continuing program goal is embedding into all the courses content around language development, literacy for bilingual learners, multicultural education and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching.

-Participate and collaborate in the general undergraduate and graduate teacher licensing program. Such participation may include the program admissions process, the culminating assessment process, student orientations, site professor position in a Professional Development School, and related duties.

-Participate in the development and implementation of a strategic process for recruiting underrepresented groups into literacy education.

-Maintain and participate in improvement of performance-based assessments aligned with ILA/NCTE and Colorado state standards to inform program improvement and renewal.

-Conduct a rigorous research agenda, resulting in publications, presentations and grants, to address literacy concerns in culturally and linguistically diverse contexts. Engage actively with other faculty within LLCRT and across the SEHD in the development and elaboration of research.

-Develop research grants in collaboration with other colleagues in the SEHD and with community partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in K-6 or K12 Literacy Education, or a closely related field

Teaching experience across a range of K-6 grades, or equivalent experience

Demonstrated success or potential for strong productivity in research, grant writing and scholarship with a focus on cultural diversity, bilingual learners, and/or literacy problems of practice

Demonstrated success or potential for graduate level teaching

Commitment to the professional field of literacy education as evidenced by education teaching, school experience, research and professional affiliations at the state and national levels such as: NCTE, ILA, AERA, ALAN Review, LRA, TESOL, NABE, NAME, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of complex school issues and an interest in collaborating with a variety of constituencies in varying environments

Ability to provide leadership for undergraduate and graduate licensure in elementary education and the MA and doctoral graduate program in literacy education. This includes support for recruiting, admissions, culminating projects, student orientations, etc.
