Just then, a hungry hawk flew down from the sky. It grabbedAnansi in its sharp claws and flew up toward the clouds. The son called Stone Thrower acted quickly. He picked up a stone and threw it at the hawk. Crack! The stone hit the hawk, and it droppedAnansi. Down, down, down, he fell.

「I will save him!」the son called Cushion called. So Cushionstretched out on the ground. Plop! Anansi landed on soft Cushion,and he was not hurt.

That night, Anansi said to his sons,「You have been very brave,and I respect each one of you. Thank you, my sons.」

The following night, Anansi was walking in the forest when hesaw a beautiful, shining sphere. 「I will take this shining ball home and give it to one of my sons,」 he thought. 「It will be a fine reward for the son who did the most to save my life.」 Anansi took the ball and headed home. But then he realized what a difficult decision he had to make, since each of his sons deserved a reward. He decided to ask the sky god, Nyame, for his advice.

這個時候，天上飛過來一隻鷹。它一下子把阿南希抓住，然後衝到了天上去。老五的準星非常好。他朝老鷹那邊扔了一塊石子，擊中了老鷹！老鷹從天上掉下來了，它也把阿南希放開扔下來了。

老六喊道，「我來救爸爸！」只聽到「啪！」的一聲，爸爸摔到了老六軟軟的身上。他一點事都沒有！

阿南希說，「我的兒子們，謝謝你們。你們非常勇敢，也值得我的尊敬。」

他思量著應該送給他的兒子什麼東西做獎勵，可是又拿不定主意給給哪個兒子。於是，他跑去問天空之神Nyame有什麼建議。

Anansi explained to Nyame what each son had done to save hislife. The sky god asked to meet Anansi』s sons.

So Anansi brought Nyame to his home and gathered his sons. 「Iwill give this shining sphere to the son who did the most to save mylife,」 Anansi said. 「Nyame will make the decision.」

Then Nyame spoke.「I believe See Trouble should get the shiningsphere, since he was the one who first discovered that his father was in trouble.」 He then presented it to See Trouble.

However, See Trouble replied, 「I cannot accept the shiningsphere, because I did not help the most.」 So Nyame next presented the shining sphere to Road Builder, who gave the same answer.

As each son, in turn, replied in the same way, Nyame smiled. Justas he had guessed, they all helped equally.

「I will place the shining sphere in the sky, where I hope it will inspire all creatures on Earth to work together,」 he said. So Nyame took the beautiful sphere up into the sky. And to this day, that is where the moon has remained.

天空之神Nyame聽了阿南希說完自己的兒子怎麼救他的之後，主動要求去見他的兒子們。

阿南希於是就把Nyame帶回了家。「我要把這個閃亮的珠子送給你們其中的一個」，他對自己的兒子們宣布說，「榮譽應該是給功勞最大的那位。至於是給誰，由天空之神來決定」。

天空之神要把珠子送給老大See Trouble。可是老大卻不要。他覺得自己的功勞並不是最大的。天空之神於是又要把珠子給老二。結果，每一個兄弟都謙讓不要。

天空之神笑了。果然，如他所料，每一個兄弟都付出了同樣多，他們的功勞都一樣。

「那這樣吧，」天空之神最後說道，「我把這顆珠子掛在天上。這樣你們每晚都能在天上看到它，地球上的每一個神靈都能看到它，想起互相協作是多麼重要」，那顆珠子便留在了天空之中。它就是我們的月亮。
