面向全世界年輕攝影師的作品徵集

Foam officially opens its annual Talent Call on Wednesday 1 February. The Foam Talent Call is an international search for exceptionally talented photographers between the ages of 18 and 35. Selected artists will have their work published in Foam Magazine and participate in a travelling exhibition that kicks off at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam.

The 11th edition of the Foam Talent Call runs from 1 February until 19 March 2017. The selection process takes place between March and June, and the names of the selected artists are announced shortly thereafter.

FOAM MAGAZINE TALENT ISSUE

The Talent Call, with an annual average of 1.500 submissions from over 70 countries, gives Foam invaluable insight into new developments, trends and themes in contemporary photography. The editors of Foam Magazine select around 20 portfolios based on the artists』 creative vision and quality, looking to decipher the trend setters from the trend followers. The Foam Magazine Talent Issue, which is devoted to these talented image makers, is released every fall. Previous Foam Talents include Melinda Gibson, Ina Jang, Alex Prager, Rapha?l Dallaporta, Jessica Eaton, Shane Lavalette, Sam Falls, Noémie Goudal, David Benjamin Sherry, Daisuke Yokota, Lucas Blalock, and Peter Puklus, among others.

TRAVELLING EXHIBITION

In addition to publication in Foam Magazine, selected artists will participating in the travelling exhibition Foam Talent. For the incoming group of Talents, this exhibition will kick off in September at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and will then travel internationally. Past Foam Talent exhibitions have travelled to Paris and Brussels. The selected photographers from the 2016 Talent Call will be showing their work in the Foam Talent exhibition in New York (30 March - 16 April 2017) and in London (18 May – 18 June 2017).

HOW TO SUBMIT

Photographers between the ages of 18 and 35 are invited to submit their work at foamtalent.com by 19 March 2017. The submission requirements are: 2 projects with 8-10 JPEG images per project, a brief description of each project (Word or PDF in English, maximum of 500 words per project description) and an abridged CV. There is an entry fee of €35.

從頗具實驗性也同時上演著FOAM所選先鋒攝影師個展的3h空間，到年度重量級Paul Huf攝影獎項，都離不開FOAM TALENT天才計劃。

FOAM TALENT天才計劃怎麼選？

2016年，FOAM TALENT CALL收到了來自75個國家近1500位年輕攝影師超過30,000幅的參選作品，逐年遞增的參選作品讓評審團喜憂交加，畢竟在大量優秀年輕攝影師之中挑選最有才華的那21位並非易事。

而關於才華天賦的定義，FOAM學術副館長Marcel Feil也曾在一次訪談中給出了自己的理解。他認為一個天賦異稟的人，必須從某種程度上避免被定義被標籤。同時他也強調了「擁有天賦」和「成為天才」之間的差異性。

他認為擁有天賦一種超脫於年齡限制的東西，一個人在一生之中的任何階段都表現出這種東西；而一個「成為天才」的人，更多則是與具有無限發展潛能的年輕人掛鉤。

FOAM TALENT在召集過程中無任何既定主題，亦無任何傾向，他面向全世界的年輕攝影師。而Marcel透露，在甄選過程中，評委們更希望看到的是能夠在當代攝影格局之中能夠獨樹一幟並且有所突破的作品。他們期許攝影師保持獨創性，有創新理念，透過作品表達最真實的情感。
