衛冕難了？騎士防守只排聯盟21！必須打出01湖人統治力才能奪冠？

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently ranked 21st in Defensive Rating. Since the NBA-ABA merge, only 2 teams have been outside the top 10 and won the championship: 95" Rockets and 01" Lakers (self.nba)

騎士隊目前的防守效率僅僅排在聯盟第21位。自從NBA-ABA合并以來，只有兩隻不在防守榜前10的球隊最終奪冠：95年的火箭隊和01年湖人隊。

The Rockets were ranked 12th in Defensive Rating while the Lakers were ranked 21st for their respective years.

The Lakers being so low could be attributed in part to the injury bug, as Kobe only played 68 games, Shaq played 74, Fisher played just 20, and Ron Harper just 47.

The Cavs, also hit by the injury bug, lost 2 starters in Kevin Love and JR Smith for large amounts of time as well.

Are the Cavaliers going to repeat the outlier of the Lakers" 2001 season? Will they stay true to the statistical precedent set before them?

Shaq had way too much weight on a massive frame to play hard for the regular season and not get hurt. It wasn"t even feasible for him to give a shit about the regular season.

And it isn"t for LeBron either. He"s played more high intensity basketball than any other human on Earth this past decade, and his playstyle would be extremely taxing for a mere mortal. I think the real thing to worry about is the rest of the team. Younger guys like Kyrie and TT have a lot of space to improve their game, and you want them putting in the effort all season long to get there

and kyrie has done just that. his defense and playmaking is much better than it used to be and while he does still go into tunnel vision mode now and then, it"s when the team really needs buckets.

Yeah this is a question I"ve been grappling with. His minutes are shocking to me. However, I think it"s more the team is coasting and currently not in the defensive mindset. Idk if teams can flip and switch and suddenly be in that mindset though.

I would love to see prime Shaq take on these Warriors in a playoff series. You"re right, prime Shaq would get absolutely whatever he wanted down low. But these Warriors are a shooting team from a different era. So it"s hard to see how the series would turn out. Kobe hadn"t hit his prime yet, and hadn"t coalesced his defensive game fully. Curry & Klay would likewise get theirs on the perimeter.
