對於中國人來說，外國人的圈子真的很難融入嗎？

我不認為一個人的國籍或種族與他（她）交朋友的難易度存在聯繫。至少在加拿大，大多數情況下此二者是無關的。在我看來，是否去融入一個群體是一種選擇而非一個艱巨的挑戰，換句話說，你應該不斷去尋找真正適合自己的群體來融入。

如果你不飲酒，為何要融入一個天天泡酒吧的群體呢？如果你打乒乓球好，就加入乒乓球俱樂部啊，我認為不會有人拒絕你加入的。

我的很多加拿大朋友覺得很難融入中國留學生的群體，因為他們發現中國留學生與同伴間只用中文交流。我曾經也認為是這樣，因此選擇不去融入中國留學生的群體。之後，我開始學習中文國語，並決定融入與前文提到的相同的中國留學生群體以便讓他們教我中文。你猜怎麼樣？中國留學生實際上非常溫暖和友好。我受到歡迎，並且交了一些非常要好的朋友。

如果你希望交到西方背景的朋友，找到一個與你的興趣愛好契合的團體並大膽介紹自己。任何圈子裡都有些蠢蛋，但我想你並不願和那些人交朋友。這是你的選擇。 另一個小建議是主動用英語向他人請求幫助，就像我為了交中國朋友所做的一樣。人們通常樂意去幫助別人。

I don"t think a person"s nationality or ethnicity is related to how hard it is for her/him to make friends, at least in most of Canada. In my opinion, whether one integrates into a group is more a matter of choice rather than a challenge. That said, you need to keep searching for the right group that suits you.

If you don"t drink at all, why would you want to integrate yourself into a group of people who go to bars every day? If you are good at ping pong, and join the ping pong club, I cannot see why people would reject you.

Lots of my friends find it hard to integrate themselves into groups of Chinese students, because they find Chinese students tend to speak only Chinese to each other. I used to feel the same, and chose to not get into the Chinese students" group. Then I started to learn Mandarin, and I decided to join some Chinese groups and asked people to teach me Chinese. Guess what? Chinese students are actually very warm and friendly. I felt welcomed and have made some very good friends.

If you want to make Western friends, find a group of people that share your interests and introduce yourself. There are jerks around, but I guess you don"t want to be friends with them. Again, it is your choice.

Another tip is to ask people to help you with your English, as I did to make my Chinese friends. Generally, people like to help others.
