玩詞解讀：在表達愛意時，言語有時會顯得clumsy and inadequate，那麼這時送花則是an easy, eloquent expression of love。也不知從何時起，中國人也開始用送花來表達愛意。

玩詞解讀：愛情就好像一場戰爭，easy to begin卻very hard to stop。巧用比喻，透露出作者的奇思妙想。very hard to stop一語雙關，讓人難以判斷它是指愛上一個人後無法自拔，還是指很難結束兩人之間的loving relationship。

玩詞解讀：Dwight L. Moody從信仰與愛情的比較來探討愛情，他認為：Faith讓一切皆有可能，而love讓一切變得簡單。對於相愛的人來說，在愛情面前幾乎沒有什麼是不能克服的。但事實並非如此，若相愛的人走到魯迅先生筆下《傷逝》那步的話，可能就不會這麼想了吧！

玩詞解讀：此處mealy意指pale，可形容人。不知詩人筆下的mealy generation是指的哪一代人，但其深意大概適合於二戰後到現在環球化時代的年輕人。不論是被某種宗教還是被某種意識形態convicted，但對於那些困惑其中且無法做出選擇的the sad young, 不急於擺脫自己的困惑和精神危機，因為這恐怕需要更大的勇氣。

玩詞解讀：此段話雖長，但值得細細揣摩品味。在Charlotte看來，生命是consists in mutual service。 只要一個人的power of service還在，那他的生命就沒有理由被剝奪。當一個人不能再為這個世界做出任何貢獻時，當這個人的死亡已經unavoidable and imminent時，選擇a quick and easy death 而不是a slow and horrible death, 是一個人的最基本的人權。
