The Thunder s owners cheaped out and made Presti trade Harden after 2011-12. They also kept Scott Brooks even after he played Kendrick Perkins in the 2012 Finals and was shown to be ineffective in the playoffs. Brooks does get fired but it was 3 years too late. And after YEARS of not finding an elite shooter or 3 and D player (WHICH WOULDN T BE A PROBLEM IF THEY KEPT HARDEN**), Presti gets Oladipo in a trade for SERGE IBAKA. Surely this must propel them into a championship! 1 problem: Durant had enough and left.

Thunder could ve kept key players, gone over the cap(and luxury tax threshold) but would continue to contend for years, made coaching changes sooner and filled roster out accordingly (Like the Warriors). Instead cheap owners and Presti forced to being conservative with his moves cost the Thunder a dynasty.

I d kind of be okay with this, honestly.

I think at that point there d be zero argument that that hypothetical Warriors squad wasn t the best team of all time, and at least when we re all grey and old we could sit in our rocking chairs and yell at kids complaining about whichever new superteam forms in 2056 that it wasn t as bad as in our day.

Absolutely insane. I went from wanting Lebron to never win another ring 2 years ago to wanting him to solidify himself as the GOAT (in my eyes) in 2017. Crazy how things changed so fast.

For context, this means that KD is willing to re-sign with the Warriors with the "non-bird exception", or 120% of his salary in the previous season. This amounts to $31.8 million.

Otherwise he could demand a maximum contract, which is 35% of the salary cap for players with 10 years of experience. Based on current cap projections of $101 million, this amounts to $35.35 million. So he s taking a pay cut of around $3.5 million dollars for this year.

The advantage of this is that the Warriors don t need to use cap space to re-sign Durant if they use the non-bird exception. That means they can re-sign Iguodala and Livingston for whatever amount they want.

I expect KD to sign another 1+1 this year, and then next offseason re-sign with the Warriors on a long-term deal for the full max, exactly like LeBron did with the Cavs.

Iguodala and Livingston have the Warriors over a barrel now, the Warriors wouldn t have the cap space to replace them and don t have any real excuses for not paying them.
