Which is kind of my point -- everyone loves their guys and we"ve all seen fans call Ingram, Tatum/Brown, Booker, Jamal Murray, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, Norm Powell, etc. "untouchable" and it"s like well, I admire your ability to fall in love, I guess.

This is not a shot at any of those particular guys, but it"s almost certain that they all won"t pan out to be stars, yet everyone is convinced that their guy will be the one that makes it and the other guys are trash.

Well any player that is untouchable at a young age is because you never know what they could turn into (perfect example: Brandon Ingram), you don"t want to trade/get rid of a superstar before they turn into one. I"m sure in 3-4 years many players that have been called untouchable will be moved and won"t even be max players.

Yeah, but 7 years is an important milestone. It"s when guys are generally hitting unrestricted free agency or entering the final years of their second contracts.

The only way first-round selections move in the first four years is if they"re traded or fall out of the league. Then the only way they move the next two years is if their initial team doesn"t give them a QO, or fails to match a RFA offer sheet.

Basically, by the first time that players can make their own choices about where to go, the VAST majority aren"t sticking around where they were drafted.

Also to keep in mind, ANY basketball player is up for grabs and ready to move. Long gone are the days of players just sticking it out with one team until retirement, especially superstars. I think the only star player who hasn"t been traded, left or even flirted with the idea was Dirk Nowitzki.

Even Tim Duncan and Kobe have been linked to trades or possible other FA destinations. I"d say it"s almost more fair to expect your player to leave at some point and just be pleasantly surprised if they stay.

He used to be great to stick out there with the second unit and inspire some passing when the offense got stagnant. Now he"s our vet and main locker room guy.
