It really sucks. They had a great team with Hayward and they got better each year and finally returned to the playoffs....just for their star to leave and they have to restart all over again.

Might have affected this contract decision.

They told him to go out and do that to see his value with the promise that they would match whatever he got. They explicitly told him that, at least if i remember correctly from Zach Lowe"s interview with the Jazz beat reporter.

Maybe, but on the other hand the insane arms race in the West means they"d never really be able to get much out of it this year. Might have been the clincher that made Gordon decide staying wouldn"t be as worth it.

Yeah the problem is the way the league is set up now, you don"t need one star, you need three, at least two. So if you have only one young star who wants to leave, it makes no sense to spend that much money on a star if you don"t have a real shot at bringing another in.

Also, endorsements are so large for stars (not saying this is true for Hayard though), that the top stars can afford to take less money to just play where they enjoy the quality of life

而且對於球星來說，他們獲得的贊助收入太龐大了（並不是說這就是海沃德離開的原因），也正因為此，頂級球星們便能夠接受小一點的合同，然後去他們想打球的地方享受生活。
