A Chinese supercomputer has created the largest ever digital version of the cosmos.

Sunway TaihuLight, the world"s fastest computer, has modelled the birth and early expansion of the universe using 10 trillion digital particles, a new report claims.

The supercomputer modelled these particles interacting with one another using quadrillions of calculations per second to model the cosmos.

中國科學家在「神威·太湖之光」計算機上創造出最大的虛擬宇宙。

他們用了10萬億個數字粒子來模擬宇宙的形成和早期擴張。

這個項目的規模是之前世界紀錄的五倍，世界紀錄是瑞士蘇黎世大學的天文物理學家上個月才創造的。這個項目是兩個月前在江蘇無錫的國家超級計算中心開展的。

Actually a number of groups are trying to do this but don"t always make it into the press. The biology of a whole human is actually really complicated and it will take maybe a decade or more to get even close to modelling such a system. Unfortunately this article make the whole computer modelling thing sound like scientists have solved such problems but in reality they are still pretty basic compared to the real dynamics involved.
