Uma Wang 2017秋冬系列，向墨西哥女畫家弗里達·卡洛（Frida Kahlo 1907-1954）致敬。弗里達·卡洛雖身有殘疾，一生飽受病痛折磨，卻在病床上創造出了偉大的藝術。她曾覺得自己是世上最奇怪的人，並隔空呼喊這世上同樣「奇特而不完美」（bizarre and flawed）的人。在殘酷的現實環境中，所飽有的自由而濃烈的情感，是Uma Wang想要在這一系列中表現的。

Uma Wang』s fall-winter 2017 collection pays homage to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), who, despite her disability and the tortuous suffering she endured throughout her life, was able to create magnificent works of art from her bed. The intense sense of freedom breaking out of a cruel reality [depicted through her paintings] is the very essence that Uma Wang wishes to explore and capture in this series.

Through her signature contemporaneous metamorphosis of the old and cultural, Uma Wang subtly translates Frida Kahlo』s Mexican folk and tradition, carefully weaving them into the collection – which seemingly is the result of a dialogue across time and space between the two female artists. Heaviness of velvet is contrasted with delicate lace, intensified by the profuse use of gold, enhancing femininity in the most extraordinary ways.
