簡化英語表達之這些名詞其實可以做動詞
我們寫出來的英語經常會顯得非常啰嗦，但是看老外寫的就非常簡潔，其中有有一個原因有些名詞可以直接做動詞用，我們卻不熟悉而採用更加冗長的表達方法。
比如我有一次我想表達excel裡面的一個條件格式，如果超出規格就會顯示黃色。
我寫的
Its color becomes yellow as a warning.
老外寫的
It is colored yellow as a warning.
查了一下發現color原來可以做動詞，給….著色的意思 。
另外一個常見是email,也可以做動詞，這個可能大家都知道：
He emailed me this morning.
He sent me an email this morning.
這兩種表達都可以。
最近一個很久沒見過的美國同事過來了，另外一個美國同事問我們
Did you party with him?
原來 party也可以做動詞, = have a party
搞機械的小夥伴可能知道machine這個詞，是機加工的意思，也就是車(turning),銑(milling),鑽(drilling) 等這些機床加工。
比如，這些零件是機加工的。
These parts are machined.
經常看電影小夥伴也知道，star也不一定是明星的意思，還有 由...主演的意思.
例如
Netflix announced last month that its political drama, starring Kevin Spacey, will return in May.
比起 whose hero is Kevin Spacey 是不是簡潔多了
007系列電影里有一部叫殺人執照(License to kill), 劇中經常提到
James Bond, licensed to kill= who was given license to kill
License做動詞用是 給...頒發執照
還有很多這樣類似的詞，並沒有有一定的規律，靠平時自己留心。
一、所有有容器性質的名詞，幾乎都可以做動詞
1)bag 把…裝入袋中 = put ...into a bag
The supermarket clerk bagged the groceries
2) bottle把…裝入瓶中 = put ...into a bottle
The wine was bottled near the vineyard.
葡萄酒在葡萄園附近被裝瓶封藏。
3) barrel把…裝入桶中= put … into a barrel
They planned to barrel the beer next Monday.
他們打算下星期一把啤酒裝桶。
4) can把…裝罐 =put … into a can
Fruit is often canned in winter.
冬天的時候人們常常把水果裝進罐里貯存起來。
5) pocket 把…裝入袋內=put … into a pocket
She pocketed her wallet and door keys.
她把錢包和門鑰匙放進了口袋裡。
5) house 為..提供住所 =put … into a house
We should manage to house and feed the poor.
我們得設法解決貧民的食宿問題。
二、某種特徵事物的名詞，可以做動詞表示這種特徵的形成
1)section把…分段切開= make … into sections
搞機械的小夥伴知道線切割(wire EDM)把一個零件沿著橫截面（cross section)切開，其實用section就可以表示切開，你用cut也可以，但section聽起來專業一點。
section a part.
把零件切成兩半。
tri-section a part
把零件切成三半。
2)coat 覆蓋…的表面= provide coat for ..
Coat the fish with seasoned flour.
往魚身上塗調好味道的麵粉。
3) slice將…切成薄片= make … into slices
slice potatoes
把土豆切成薄片
4) dice將…切成方塊= make … into dices
dice the carrots
把胡蘿蔔切成小方塊
5) skin將…剝皮（還可以strip/peel) = remove the skin of ..
skin a banana
剝去香蕉皮
6) sandwich= 把...做成三明治= make … into a sandwich
sandwich two pieces of bread with some sausage
把香腸夾在兩片麵包里做成三明治
7) signal 發出...的信號 = send a signal as …
signal a turn 打轉向燈
三、其他常用
1) author撰稿= be the author of ...
the article authored by her
她寫的文章
2) chair 當...主持人= be the chairman of …
chair the meeting主持會議
3)cloud蒙蔽= make ... as unclear as cloud.
Don t let your pride cloud your judgement.
不要讓驕傲蒙蔽你的判斷力。
4) inventory 編製...庫存清單= make an inventory of ...
inventory all the books before the end of the year
年底之前把所有的書清點一下。
5) pressure 對...施壓= give pressure to …
My parents will never pressure me to get married.
我父母從來不給我施壓催我結婚。
6) finance 提供資金=provide the money for…
He is still financed by his parents after graduation.
他畢業後還是靠父母資助。
7) feature 以..為特色 = have ...as a feature
Toyota wants to build a car featuring artificial intelligence within five years
豐田將在五年內開發一款人工智慧為賣點的車。
8)detail 詳細說明= talk about … in detail
The computer s characteristics are fully detailed in the brochure.
計算機的性能在這小冊子里有詳盡說明。
9) number給...編號= mark … with a number
the box numbered 7
編號為7的箱子
10) bill 給...開賬單= provide bill for …
We were billed for 4 nights in the hotel, although we stayed only 3 nights
我們只住了3晚，但是賬單顯示4晚。
11) coach給….培訓= be coach of …
He is now being coached by a famous pianist.
他現在正由一位著名的鋼琴家進行輔導。
12) eyeball 盯著...看= watch … with eyeballs= stare
"Can you handle that?" Savage asked, eyeballing Cameron.
「你能對付嗎？」薩維奇盯著卡梅倫問。
13)corner 把...逼入 走投無路= force … into a corner
The police finally cornered the thief.
警察最後把盜賊逼得走投無路。
14) fool 愚弄… = make … a fool
Don t be fooled by his appearance.
不要被他的外表所蒙蔽。
16) milk 給...擠奶= get milk from ...
The farmer milks the cows twice a day.
那農夫一天擠兩次母牛的奶。
