Hes not really saying that though, hes saying that these players are getting paid a ridiculous amount of money. They can play the same amount of back to backs as the old school guys did.

I see both sides. One side is that players will probably be healthier, the games will be better since they are more rested, and its just easier on their life. The other side is that if other people did it, they can do it too. Injuries have always been a part of the game and part of being a good player is proper training so you dont get injured easily. Of course some injuries arent preventable, but you can greatly reduce the risk of most injuries with good preparation and execution techniques. They are also getting paid a significant amount of money. They shouldnt complain about playing back to backs.

Edit: Im not saying making the schedule is easier is a bad thing. I see both sides to it and completely agree its going to a result in a better quality of basketball. Im just saying the other side of the argument because its also a good point.

Yeah but now that there"s so much more money on the line its more important to protect your investment i.e. the players. Also from a players perspective his health and well being is worth 10s of millions in future salary, they have more incentive to protect that.

I hate the "we did it, they should do it mentality" because there were a lot of shit games back then in those 5 games in 7 nights.

But that was part of the difficulty of playing in the NBA. It really is a testament to players that stayed healthy and the players who were able to continue to perform at a high level despite playing back to backs. Im sure you can agree its going to be much harder to compare records and accomplishments now that players have a lot more rest then the players in the past did. I totally understand that side of the argument as well, but lets not act like charles doesnt have a point here.

At the same time, you had young players developing their bodies better. There are more teams. More overall talent. Also more international ball. Look at someone like Kobe or Tony Parker. They had so many more miles because of international ball + starting at a young age.

Sure, of course Charles has a point, but his career would likely have lasted longer with more of today"s technology and mindset towards rest.

同時，現在的年輕球員更會保養身體。現在的球隊比以前多得多，天賦溢出的情況更常見。國際上籃球也更受歡迎了。看看科比和托尼帕克這類球員吧，他們的職業生涯如此之長的部分原因就是他們有國際籃球經歷，而且很早就開始接觸籃球了。當然了，巴克利說的有一定道理，但如果巴克利能享受到今天的醫療、科技水平，以及對於輪休更重視一些的話，他的職業生涯很可能會被大大延長。

And this mindset doesn"t just exist in sports. Look at doctors who go through hell because "everyone has to do it" type shit. It"s not safe, but that stupid past expectation of being able to suck it up with long hours of no sleep.

Duncan, Manu and Parker"s careers have definitely been prolonged due to the rest. And Parker and Manu have had extensive international careers (over the summer).

As a paying customer, i care about quality basketball more than anything. I don"t want a shit 5 in 7 nights game. Or a season ending injury that robs a full season of a talented player

由於輪休，鄧肯、馬努和帕克的職業生涯都得到了延長。別忘了，帕克和馬努夏天還要打很多國際比賽呢。作為一名付費用戶，比起這些破事，我更關心高質量的籃球。我不想在7個晚上有5場比賽都是不忍直視的，或者一個天才球員因為傷病整個賽季就報銷了。

Playoffs are much more interesting when everyone』s healthy, I』ll gladly take some poor play in meaningless mid-season inter-conference games if it means the best teams in the NBA make the playoffs with the majority of their rosters intact.

Forget the players, it"s a better product for fans to have less games, in my opinion. Players won"t sit out games and when they do play they will play harder.
