【提示】compare的非謂語形式在句中作狀語時,選用哪種非謂語形式的關鍵是找出compare與句子主語之間的邏輯關係。

Comparing this book with that one,you』ll find this one more interesting.

把這本書和那本書相比較,你會發現這本書更有趣。(you發出compare這一動作)

Compared with that book,this one is more interesting.

和那本書相比,這本書更有趣。(this one是compare這一動作的承受者)

3、It』s been six years since we last saw each other.

自從我們上次見面到現在已經有六年了。(P32)

It is/has been+時間段+since...意為「自從……以來至今多長時間了」。

It is five years since he joined the army.

他參軍已經5年了。

【提示】

since從句中用一般過去時。

since從句的謂語動詞使用延續性與非延續性動詞,意義是不一樣的。試比較:

It is/has been+時間段+since+從句(動詞為非延續性)表示「某一動作從發生至今已有多久」。

It has been five years since her father died.

她父親去世已有五年了。(die為非延續性動作)

It is/has been+時間段+since+從句(動詞為延續性)表示「某一動作停止至今已有多久」。

It is/has been two years since I worked in this company.

我不在這家公司工作已經有兩年了。(work為延續性動詞)

4、And this is the first time I』ve visited your hometown.

這是我第一次來到你的家鄉。(P32)

This/It/That is the first/second/其他序數詞/last+time+that從句,意思是「這/那是某人第一/二/……/最後一次做某事」,其中that引導定語從句,在口語中常省略that,且從句中使用完成時。

This is the second time that he has won first place in the English contest.

這是他第二次在英語比賽中獲得第一名。

【提示】

在「This/It/That is/was the first/second/其他序數詞/last+time+that從句」句型中,當主句謂語動詞是is時,從句中的謂語動詞用現在完成時;當主句謂語動詞是was時,從句中的謂語動詞用過去完成時。

5、Sounds OK to me.(那)對我來說聽起來很好。(P32)

That sounds great.那聽起來太好了。(P32)

sound v.聽起來

Her idea sounds like a good one.

她的主意聽起來是個好主意。

【知識拓展】

sound OK/all right to sb.對某人而言是可以的

sound like...聽起來像……

safe and sound安然無恙

【提示】

sound為感官系動詞,不用於進行時,也不用於被動語態;其後跟形容詞、介詞短語或從句作表語。類似的感官系動詞還有:feel(摸起來),smell(聞起來),taste(嘗起來),look(看起來)等。

6、A friend』s told me about a nice little fish restaurant near here.

一個朋友告訴過我這附近有家小魚館不錯。(P32)

a nice little fish restaurant 為多個形容詞作定語修飾名詞。

形容詞排序的基本原則是與名詞關係最密切的應當靠名詞最近,與名詞關係疏遠的靠名詞遠一些。通常詞序是:限定詞+數詞(基數或序數)+描述性形容詞+表示大小、形狀的詞+表示新舊、年齡的詞+表示顏色的詞+表示國籍、材料的詞+表示用途、類別的詞+中心名詞。

7、You know,I』ve seen quite a lot of China and I』ve visited some beautiful cities,but this is one of the most attractive places I』ve been to.你知道,我去過中國的很多地方,並遊覽過一些美麗的城市,但這裡是我到過的最吸引人的地方之一。

【長難句分析】

(1)本句是一個由but連接的並列複合句。

(2)You know在此作插入語,but前的分句由and連接的兩個並列分句構成。

(3)but後的分句包含一個定語從句I』ve been to,其前省略了關係代詞that,修飾先行詞places。先行詞前有最高級修飾時,定語從句用完成時。
