Let us get to know Mark a bit more before we dive into Mark』s adventure in Iceland.

Born in Beijing, Mark was always a troublemaker in school while growing up. His family decided to immigrate to the US where his parents thought the relaxed environment would better suit him. Ironically it was Mike』s desire for structure and a sense of purpose that led him to join the US Army, hoping that the daily regimen and discipline would build character.

It is this duality offreedom and structurethat would define the photographer he is today.

Mark』s photographsare similar to his life experience, it is diverse and constantly evolving, which has taken him from photojournalism to fashion to advertising. While some images seem far flung and exotic, it』s still grounded in the human story and connections.

When Mark thinks back on this particular trip to Iceland that he and his friends have been looking forward to, he could only sum it up as unexpectedly disasteous.

Any misfortunate event one could think of, Mark experienced it all.

The weather inIceland was a huge disappointment. Four days of bad weather in which totally destroyed his shooting plan.

After a couple days, Iceland showed its richness of landscape, quiet yet profound.

The timeless beauty of Iceland lays in the moss, the rock , the glacier and the volcanic landscape. Through Mark』s eyes we travel to the end of the world and embrace the roughness and the softness of this exotic world.

Each photo has a special memory attached to their creation.

After so many ups and downs, Mark and his team were finally rewarded by the unexpected northern lights dancing before their eyes! It』s like seeing the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

Like other creative art forms, photography is the accumulation of experiences and different backgrounds. To that end, Mark is constantly learning, exploring, and trying new things. In turn, this helps keep his photos fresh and make work feel less like a burden and more as an extension of life.
