If we stretch Noah it means his salary is paid out over double the remaining years plus one [(2x2)+1]. This year is already on the books, so we"d have until September 1st to stretch.

Interesting... I know nothing about stretching. So does the player need to approve this or something? What allows teams to trigger a stretch? It can"t just be a player agreeing to get paid about half of what they would have gotten paid per year...right? Or is there some benefit to the player?

IIRC, it is solely the team"s decision and the player still gets paid the same amount in the same time frame that that their original contract stipulates; but the effect on the salary cap is stretched over more years.

If I understand the stretch provision correctly, that means they"ll be paying Noah through 2021-2022. That"s a pretty significant blow to their chances of building around Prozingis" prime, assuming they can get him to sign a full extension.
No good choices on this one, but stretching that big of a contract would be a significant blow to their salary cap and FA options for 4 more years.

This is random, but last year at halftime of the OKC nicks game in okc, Noah and another player that wasn』t playing snuck into the court side bar and took shots. Managed to ask him for a pic and he surprisingly said yes lol
