莫斯科世紀大雪打破歷史記錄

Record-breaking snowfall in Moscow over the weekend led to canceled flights and power outages from fallen trees.

About 55 centimeters of snow had accumulated inthe city by Monday February 5th.

The Russian capital hit its entire monthly snowfall average by Saturday and the snow kept on falling into Sunday.

This beats Moscow』s previous record for snowfall set in 1957.

Local media are calling it the snowfall of the century.

One person died and at least five were injured by toppled trees.

大雪導致一人死亡，至少五人因壓倒的樹受傷。

More than 40 thousand households lost power after trees also fell on electrical lines.

還有些樹倒在電線上，導致4萬多戶人家斷電。

Soldiers were ordered to help clean up the streets while authorities deployed plow vehicles, school for many children was declared optional on Monday when temperatures reached just minus 12 degrees Celsius.

周一氣溫降低到零下12度時，士兵也上街掃雪，官方動用了鏟雪機，學校也停課。

This isn』t the only extreme weather record recently set in Moscow.

In December the city experienced the least amount of sunshine in a single month.
