Swan Gate, Purple Fortress,

Chicken Farm, Crimson Buttress.

Queen Lake, Brown Rock,

Vast Wild, Cavehall Loch.

中國有很多名勝。名關有北疆雁門，要塞有萬里長城，驛站有邊地雞田，奇山有天台赤城；賞池赴昆明滇池，觀海臨河北碣石，看澤去山東巨野，望湖上湖南洞庭。

There are many attractions in China such as a famous pass called Swan Gate, a barrier called Purple Fortress, a station called Chicken Farm, and a wall calledCrimson Buttress. And one can see Queen Lake in Kunming, Brown Rock in Hopei, Vast Wild in Shantung, and Cavehall Loch in Hunan.

kuàng yuǎn mián miǎo

曠遠綿邈

yán xiù yǎo míng

岩岫杳冥

zhì běn yú nóng

治本於農

wù zī jià sè

務茲稼穡

Wilderness rolls further away,

Valleys stretch, green, gray.

Tilth』s Chinese farmers』 main;

Sweat』s shed, producing grain.

咱們的大中國，土地遼闊，廣大無邊；名山奇谷，幽深秀麗，氣象萬千。農業是我們的治國之本，我們勞作，我們收穫。

The landscape of China is great: wilderness rolls further, and further away; valleys stretch, looking green, and as they stretch further, looking gray. Tilth is we Chinese farmers』 main work; while our sweat is shed, we produce grain.

俶載南畝

wǒ yì shǔ jì

我藝黍稷

shuì shú gòng xīn

稅熟貢新

quàn shǎng chù zhì

勸賞黜陟

I till Southern Field;

Millet 』n rice peasants yield.

Crops ripe, tax paid;

Penalties, prizes already laid.

一年的農活該開始幹起來了，我們在南面的田野里種植小米和黃米。收穫季節，我們用剛熟的新谷交納稅糧，莊稼種得好我們便會受到表彰和賞賜，而要是種得不好就要受到處罰了。

The year』s farming begins. I start to till Southern Field; we peasants will yield millet and rice. When crops are ripe, we will pay tax; there are penalties and prizes laid for the work we do.
