前言

Preface

貧民窟(slum)一詞一直用來指最惡劣的住房條件、最不衛生的環境；貧民窟也是包括一系列犯罪行為在內的邊際活動的避難所；貧民窟更是有可能造成多種傳染病肆虐城市地區的傳染源……但就是在這樣一個看似和正直、健康毫不相干的地方，也有一群人，一群心中充滿愛與希望的藝術家，他們用畫筆展現著內心的那片凈土。

本次藝術展「貧民窟的藝術家」由DBSA（Dream Building Service Association）主辦，旨在宣傳非洲藝術家與非洲兒童的藝術情懷——DBSA夢想畫展彙集了由22所學校1500學生創作的百米畫卷和17名貧民窟藝術家畫作，展示了來自Mathare和Kibera貧民窟的攝影、油畫、塗鴉等藝術作品。

The word 『slum』 has been used to refer to the worst housing conditions and the most unsanitary environment; Slums are also a refuge for marginal activities, including a range of criminal acts; Slums are even more likely to cause contagion in urban areas with a variety of infectious diseases. But even in a place which seems to have nothing to do with integrity and health, there is also a group of people，artists full of love and hope, showing the Pure Land in their hearts with a brush.

The exhibition of "Artists from the Slum" sponsored by the DBSA (Dream Building Service Asso-ciation) is aimed at promoting the development of African art -- DBSA exhibition consists of one hundred meters pictures painted by 1500 students and paintings drawn by 17 slum artists, Mathare and Kibera slum photography and so on.

來自肯亞Mathare貧民窟兒童的孩子們擁有著驚人的想像力、繪畫天賦，他們用畫筆勾勒著房屋、公路、森林、河流……一張張作品中稚嫩的筆觸透露著孩子們心底最真摯的期待：漂亮的家、乾淨的水源以及更廣闊的的世界……雖然筆觸稚嫩青澀，也缺少繪畫技巧，但他們的畫作獨一無二。

Children from the Mathare slum in Kenya have amazing imagination and painting talents——they paints houses, roads, forests and rivers. The tender brushwork of each piece reveals the children"s most sincere expectations: a beautiful home, clean water, and a wider world. Although the stroke is immature lacking painting skills, their paintings are unique.

本作品展現了下班高峰期時貧民窟的街景，因為貧民窟里基礎設施不好，Faith在自己的畫作里畫了高樓大廈，希望在Rush Hour的貧民窟里依舊秩序井然，本作品代表了Faith對Kibera美好未來的憧憬。

策展人簡介

Introduction of Curators

王心若楠/Xinruonan Wang

來自重慶活動市第一中學——熱衷於各種公益活動，創辦了「SWAG.Lab」，致力於在青少年群體中藝術減壓。

參加策展的原因：「在此次活動之前我對策展這一板塊一無所知，但在了解到此次藝術展是為非洲藝術家和兒童所辦，感覺能為非洲公益事業出力，特別有意義，所以便從零起步，決定做一個小小策展人。」

何昊宸/Haochen He

來自重慶南開中學國際課程中心——要說特別之處就是參加過全球不定期舉行的世界設計峰會吧。

參加策展的原因：「自從決定選擇從小就感興趣的建築設計為大學專業方向之後就一直對所有跟藝術沾邊的東西都很感興趣，畫展也不例外; 而且通過畫展我不僅能夠進行無聲的文化交流還可以純粹地欣賞藝術。」

史昭瀚/Zhaohan Shi

來自重慶南開中學國際課程中心

參加策展的原因：「在之前王心若楠同學有邀請邀請我和她一起來做一個關於非洲的展， 藉此機會我得意成為本次畫展的策展人之一。

在這次策展工作中， 我有了更多的機會去深入的了解每一位畫家背後的故事， 去了解一個更真實的， 更加色彩斑斕的非洲，同時也看到了非洲現在所面臨的慘淡的現狀，如猖獗的盜獵等。當然這個畫展讓我體會到了那種來自靈魂的對於美的追求。」

Introduction of DBSA

DBSA（Dream Building Service Assorciation）造夢公益是針對全球貧困青年兒童以及弱勢群體，尤其是貧民窟地區開展公益活動的非盈利組成。成立於2014年，目前設有加拿大、中國、美國、歐洲、澳洲分部。團隊由來自普林斯頓大學、哈佛大學、英屬哥倫比亞大學、法國索邦大學、芝加哥大學、南京大學、中山大學等海內外著名院校的學生，以及來自經融管理、建築設計、文化傳媒等領域的專業人士組成。

DBSA旨在通過提供教育培訓、改善社會基礎設施、搭建國際交流平台的方式來幫助青年兒童提高專業能力，自力更生，並回饋社區。自2014年成立以來，DBSA已在肯亞Mathare貧民窟重建兩所小學，前往22所合作小學支教，並舉辦了首屆足球賽、兩屆貧民窟達人秀與畫展，與當地NGO合作，開展了足球、藝術等一系列長期培訓課程。

DBSA Dream Building Service Association is aimed at helping poor young children and vulnerable groups around the world. Established in 2014, it has spread in Canada, China, USA, Europe and Australia. The team consists of students from Princeton University, Harvard University,University of British Columbia, Sorbonne University of France, University of Chicago, Nanjing University, Zhong Shan University and other well-known institutions at home and abroad, as well as celebrities major in financial management, cultural media and so on.

DBSA aims to help young children become better-educated and self-reliant by providing education and training, improving social infrastructure and setting up international communication platforms. Since its inception in 2014, DBSA has rebuilt two primary schools in Mathare slums in Kenya, taught in 22 cooperative primary schools, and hosted the first football match. The two Slum Talent Show and Art Show, in collaboration with local NGO, conducted a series of long-term training courses for the slum, such as football, art and so on.

Postscript

我們將貧民窟藝術家們的繪畫帶到地球另一半，我們將另一片土地上他們心中對美好生活的嚮往展現給大家。這些畫作雖筆觸技法有的稚嫩青澀，有的材料依舊簡陋，但又何妨？藝術家們用心去描繪的世界，早已超越了現實的枷鎖，直達內心最真實的渴望。

藝術無高低貴賤之分，即使是這些每天要與飢餓貧窮作戰的貧民窟藝術家們，也會有超越生存的追求。我們希望為這些藝術家們提供更多支持，為他們築起「藝術的殿堂」，為他們的夢想護航！

We bring the artworks of the artists from the slums to halfway across the world; we exhibit the longing towards the happy and good life of those people from another piece of land. Some brushwork and painting techniques are callow and immature, some materials are simple and crude, but so what? The world created cordially by those artists has already been beyond the shackles of reality, expressing the sincere desire and love.

Art is without distinction. Although they are the artists from the slums, who have to fight against hunger and poverty, they still have the pursue which lies beyond subsistence. We want to provide more support for those artists, helping them to build up 「 The Palace of Art」 and escorting their dreams.
