前言 INTRODUCTION

帶著些許悸動,我終於試了我人生中第一次中國東方航空公司的波音777反魚骨座位旅行。從台北到上海浦東的航程大約為1個半小時,由於是下午3點出發的航班,機上餐食僅提供所謂的點心餐。空服員的面部表情與《冰雪奇緣》中艾莎一樣的冰冷。

在接下來的一個星期,我又再次搭乘同一個MU5008航班,由空客330飛機執飛。基於之前的「點心餐」的經歷,我這次提前通過電話預定了素食餐,結果素食餐的品質遠遠勝於普通的點心餐食。你想來感受一下嗎?請看以下深度航評。

With much anticipation for China Eastern』s new B777 Reverse-herringbone seat, I decided to give it a try. The flight was roughly 1.5 hour from Taipei to Shanghai Pudong with not quite a meal so they called it a snack service for the 15:00 flight. Furthermore, the crews were as cold as Elsa on their face.

On the coming week, I also traveled on the exact same flight MU5008 with a brand new A330. With the previous experience on their 「Snack」 choice of meal, I requested the vegetarian via phone, which turned out to be a much delight meal than the normal one.

值機與貴賓室 CHECK IN & LOUNGE

東航使用華航的地勤和其在桃園機場T2航站樓的貴賓室。值機過程非常的順暢,聽到猶如「志林姐姐」一樣的娃娃口音,就如同你搭乘台籍航司一樣,我都有點懷疑我是否是走錯了值機的櫃檯。華航在D4閘口的貴賓休息室為華航自己的會員和其它天合聯盟成員的會員提供服務。休息室分為2個區域,1個是給頭等艙客人或天合聯盟超級精英會員使用,另外一個是是給商務艙和天合聯盟精英會員使用。

MU uses China Airlines representatives for the ground as well as its lounge in TPE T2. Check was smooth and attentive done by CI crew as if you were flying the Taiwanese carrier... Opps did I go to the wrong counter for check in? What could I say? They just very soft-spoken!

China Airlines lounge at D4 catered to its own member as well as other Skyteam elite members. There are two designated areas for First class passengers with higher elite (Elite Plus Status) members versus Business class and those elite (Elite Status) traveled in Economy class.

值得點贊GOOD

後廚製作的牛肉麵和其它新鮮的餐點都非常的可口。很多乘客都會點一粒茶葉蛋搭配在他們的主食當中。

Excellent beef noodle and other freshly made dish in the back dinning area. Many passengers also ordered the tea eggs along with their choice of meal, which I wasn』t aware, that norm to order during my visit. Must try it next time!

建議SUGGESTION

貴賓休息室由於沒有自然以及可以遙望外面的窗戶顯得死氣沉沉。陳舊的設施和不適當的燈光把整個休息室弄得更糟。地面沒有被打蠟拋光,指示標牌不夠清楚或者是字跡已看不太清。在每個登機閘口等候區域會是一個更好消磨候機時間的地方。

The lounge is dreadful with no natural light and window to see outdoor. Outdated facility and inadequate lighting made it even worse. The floor is not polished and the sign were unclear or wore out. The waiting area at each boarding gate will be much better choice passing time.

小見解 INSIGHT

作為中華航空的主場來說,華航沒有確保所有的貴賓室都具備競爭性,第一航站樓比較新一些的「山洞」主題休息室與國泰在香港機場的THE PIER和澳航在悉尼機場的頭等艙休息室相比,我不敢說是旗艦型標準,但是比這個D4閘口對面的休息室要好出許多。

As a home base for China Airlines, they didn』t make sure all their lounges were at its best condition. The newer one at T1 with the 「CAVE」 theme is semi better but I won』t say it』s a flagship lounge compared to CX HKG The Pier or QF SYD First class lounge.

飛機AIRCRAFT

東航會調度不同的機型來執飛MU5008航班。我有幸達乘了東航「引以為傲」的波音777客機和全新配有超級經濟艙的空客330客機。執飛本次台北到上海浦東的波音777-300延程型客機的註冊號為B-7882且機齡僅有6個月。但客艙的座椅沒有保養到最好的狀態,客艙清潔是十分的不及格,我的9L座位的扶手上全都都是奶茶。我非常好奇他們檢查客艙準備就緒的標準是怎麼樣的。

There were a few aircraft rotation for MU5008. I was able to try their 「so proud」 B777 and the new A330 with lay flat seats and PEY class configuration. The tail number B-7882 B777-300ER was barely 0.5 year old when I boarded TPE PVG flight. However the condition of these seats were not kept at its best stage. The cleanliness was also poorly done as my 9L seat. Spilled milk tea was all over the seat handle. I am curious how they consider cabin ready before boarding passengers.

飛機客艙配有帶有滑門的頭等套房,商務客艙和經濟客艙(在波音777上暫時還沒有超級經濟客艙)。飛機上提供免費的無線網路供乘客使用,乘客需要在出發前通過東航網站提前申請一個連接代碼,我都為我能在如此複雜的網站上申請到連接代碼而感到驕傲!真是太不容易了!(你也可以直接在飛機上申請連接代碼,但是如果名額滿的話,你就不能使用網路了,所以還是儘早提前申請)。只不過你不能上臉書、Instagram等網站,但訪問淘寶等網站還是很快的。

The cabin does configured with first class suite with slide door, business class and economy class. (No PEY product yet for B777) There were also WiFi available free of charge if you go on MU』s extremely complicated website and navigate through to generate the code for the inflight use. Congratulations! You did it. Thumb up if you did! Not an easy task. However there is a catch, no Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc. since it』s a Chinese WiFi service, it』s only good for iMessage and Chinese website like Taobao.

另外一架註冊號為B-8863的空客330客機的機齡只有不到2個月。你可以看得出東航近年投入和開發了很多與新航、華航相近的好產品。A33L的商務艙選用1-2-1配置,腿部伸展空間比波音777稍微小一些。但是座椅周圍配有很多個儲物空間,可以讓乘客將自己的小物品,比如眼鏡放置在這些密閉的空間內。

The other A330 B-8863 was even newer with 0.2 year in the fleet. You could tell that MU has invested and developed some of the finest product that many frequent flyers could see the similarity on SQ, CI flights. The 1-2-1 configurations were installed for the A330L series with slightly less legroom compared to the B777. However, the many storage compartments were great for passengers leaving their glasses and small items and kept them in the closed compartment.

客艙清潔方面還是不及格,客艙和座椅也沒有保養得很好。皮質座椅上還可以清晰的看到之前乘客留下「到此一座」的圓珠筆痕迹。

Once again, the cabin cleanliness was not well maintained, the wear and tare could be spotted through out the cabin and seats. One passenger must left the pen ink on the leather seats as well.

與配有頭等套房,商務艙和經濟艙的波音777客機相比,這架330客機上在商務客艙和經濟客艙之間配有超級經濟艙。超級經濟客艙的座椅配置和經濟客艙一樣均為2-4-2配置。唯一不同之處就是腿部的伸展空間。不知道他們將如何定位和銷售超級經濟艙這一產品,還是就供他們的精英會員使用。

When B777 offer the suite First class along with C and Y, This A330 was equipped with Premium Economy class in between C and Y. The configuration is the same as normal economy class with 2-4-2. The only difference was the legroom. Not sure how they are pricing these seats for long haul or simply for elite member reserved.

小貼士 NOTE

商務艙第一排靠窗戶的座位有更大的腿部伸展空間,所以如果你正好要達乘A33L型客機的話,可以選擇這2個座位。

The first row of business class on window seat has more legroom so pick these two seats if happened to fly wit this particular aircraft type (A33L).

有待改進COULD BE BETTER

B777和A33L客機全艙均配有個人娛樂系統,有點可惜的就是視頻的內容不夠豐富,特別是對於執行長程線的客機來說是不夠的。

While IFE is available for both B777 and A33L all class pax, it』s a pity for having few choice of video contents especially for long haul flights.

服務Service

如果你已被其他5星航空的服務所寵壞的話,你要對東方冷艷型的空姐們提前做好心理準備。這與即將出遊歡呼雀躍的乘客形成強烈對比。先來說說餐食吧,下午3點的航班僅備有一盤點心和水果,並放在一個嚇到寶寶吃手手之「很漂亮」的藍色塑料托盤裡。

我已儘力為大家將這些餐食擺放的漂亮一些,但這就是最大的限度了。

在我一星期後第二次搭乘本次航班的時候,我提前選擇了素食餐,結果比之前的餐食質量好很多。根據航班的時間不同,每個航班的餐食標準也會不同,所以如果你沒有搭乘正餐時間航班的話,就提前預定一份特殊餐食。

If other 5 star carriers spoiled you much, you will have to brace yourself for the cold face of MU crew. They were simply lack of enthusiasm versus the happy tourists whom were going on their holidays.According to their explanation for the 15:00 flight, it』s only served with a plate of dim sum and fruit on the 「prettiest」 plastic tray. I did try my best to make it look presentable for our dearest viewers but that』s about it.

The vegetarian meal I requested on the later week flight was however much better with Taiwanese style rice with colorful vegetable on the side. The cost-per-plate is unevenly distributed depending on the timing of flights. Make sure you book a special meal if you were not flying at normal dinning hour. It』s simply a bit hit-and-miss!

有待改進COULD BE BETTER

明明就備有酒水單,但是他們就是不願提供給客人。當他們不能夠向我介紹所提供的2款紅酒和1款白葡萄酒的區別後,他們才不情願的將酒水單拿出來。

一個正確的供酒流程應該是將酒瓶拿到乘客的面前,在乘客品試過之後,再倒給乘客。東航則是忽略這個過程,直接在廚房將酒倒好後,就把酒杯送至客人。

A drink menu could be offered yet they chose not to. I had to request to see the drink menu as they crew couldn』t tell me what they offer for the 2 choice of red and 1 choice of white.

A proper drink service should be done with bottle in front of passengers for small portion tasting before pouring. MU did all of these in the gallery and brought the glasses to the passengers.

另外一件讓我不解的事是在一個白天飛行僅1個半小時的短程航班上,東航空服員想將所有的商務客艙遮光板關上,對於像我一樣的飛行迷來說,我更希望可以看到機外的景色。當然,如果是在一個需要跨越時區的長程航線上,關閉遮光板可以避免打擾需要休息的乘客。

One thing I found it odd for such a short daytime flight with China Eastern, they wanted to close all the window shade right after take off and reopen it again before landing. Come on, it』s 1.5 hour flight. For aviation enthusiasts like me, I much prefer to have the window shade open so I could see the view outside. Of course, it would be different scenario if we were doing long haul and passing international time zone. Strong light may interfere other passenger while resting.

總結CONCLUSION

以上海作為主要樞紐的中國東方航空,在引進先進機型上取得了很大的進步,就以我所達乘的波音777和空客330客機為例,無論飛機還是客艙都可以與其它5星航空媲美,有可能飛機機齡比其它5星航空機隊更加年輕。

China Eastern with its main hub in Shanghai has made great progress with state of the art new aircrafts like the B777 and A330 I took. The aircraft and seat product were solid just like other 5 star carriers and some planes were even newer.

基於中國強大的人口數量支撐,東航和其它中國幾家航空公司可以在收益上取得漂亮的數字。但是,如何在客戶關係管理和收益之間找到平衡這將是東航和所有中國航空公司即將所要面對的難題。

With large Chinese population supporting, MU and other Chinese carriers were able to keep revenue at some good-looking numbers. However, how to balance between CRM and revenue is the upcoming task MU and all other Chinese carriers are facing.

從我搭乘東航的經歷來看,東航並沒有將重點或者根本沒有把重心放在提高自身企業形象,開發具有競爭力的機上產品及設施,更沒有在提高客艙服務上下足功夫。希望東航高層能夠多多嘗試其它5星航空公司的各艙等服務和軟硬體,結合本土乘客的需求,開發具有競爭力的客艙產品。如客艙服務水準一直都停滯不前,那麼很多國際乘客可能寧願通過附近的城市中轉,比如香港的國泰,台北的長榮,和東京的全日空, 也不願意搭乘東航的直達班機。唯有獲得了國際乘客的青睞才能真正成為一家具有全球一流水準的航空公司。

From what I have experience thus far with China Eastern is that they emphasize less or making no efforts to develop their branding, upgrade competitive product and amenity, and further more upscale their service standard to compete with other 5 star carriers. The underwhelming customer experiences with less to offer on the plate is probably the reason many other international passengers would choose other carriers rather than MU even it』s a direct flight versus transit in neighborhood cities such as HKG with Cathay Pacific, TPE with EVA AIR, and NRT with ANA.
