Glass is one of the oldest man-made materials and the glassblowing technique was developed as early as the 1st century BC. Please join us at the Beijing American Center to learn more about how American artists are using this ancient technique to create new images, new means of expression, and new ways of defining what art is in the 21st century. The speaker, Joseph A. Corcoran, is a renowned American glass artist who is in Beijing to install a new piece at the U.S. Ambassador』s residence. During the talk Joseph will also discuss his life and projects, including his approach to glass as sculpture, and how his formal training and teaching influence his work.

This program will be conducted in English.

The program will start at 6:30pm and doors will open at 6pm. Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes before the program starts to allow enough time to go through security.

Directions: Metro Line 10, Liangmaqiao Station Exit B, walk northeast to the Tian Ze Road intersection of An Jia Lou Road, north side of the Visas Office.
