王鏊宰相府頌

太湖東畔陸巷村，

東山西麓村基根；

明相王府古村絕，

三元牌坊宗族尊。

相府三進明代范，

正堂廂房後花園；

書房綉閨客茶室，

木雕石刻幽香蘭。

海內文章第一人，

山中宰相獨此門；

欲領權貴得道經？

先悟前賢治學問。

當年驚世耀祖功；

如今傳代書香榮。

Ode to Minister Wang Ao』s Houses (Sonnet 8)

Lu Xiang Village on the east of Tai Lake

Just stands at the west foot of the East Mount.

Arose here Minister Wang of Ming Reign.

Three Royal Arches tower houses around.

The Minister』s houses are in Ming style:

The hall with wings and gardens at the back,

And studies, boudoirs and tea-rooms aside,

Carved wood, cut stone and rare plants kept intact.

Minister』s brush was known Number One then;

The great came from a hamlet once for all.

If you wish to know why this could happen,

Just listen how Wang Sirs had their sons called.

The First Scholar who shone under the sun

is exemplary to the young to come.
