Would be deserved. Tanking is soft and ruins the integrity of the league. The lottery odds have been the way they are for parity"s sake. It"s supposed to provide a statistical "catch up factor" for truly bad teams. If you try to fake how bad you are--which is what tanking is--to get better odds than a team that"s actually worse, you"re fucking up the entire point. Also, as I"ve said a thousand times before, there is plenty of evidence to show that tanking isn"t necessarily a good strategy.

It"s interesting; In baseball, tanking is the new moneyball. GMs have only begun to figure out the correlation between tanking and future success within the last decade (see: Nats until they got Strasburg/Harper, Astros before Altuve, etc).

Baseball is weird though. Just because you get high draft picks doesn"t necessarily mean you"re set for the future. Nats are an outlier because it somehow worked for thrm. However, baseball is notoriously tough to break into. Many top prospects don"t even make it to the majors much less actually have successful careers. Unlike basketball, one player cannot change the entire fortune of a team.
