Some people make plans with their families which they barely see during the year around this weekend; not only with their wife and children but parents and brothers who may have a bit more trouble readjusting to an nba player schedule too. Set the date in the off season when they can work around it or plan it more in advance and more people may show up.

Medium to Star level players are most likely booked for the entire weekend (months in advance they have contracts signed to show up in events) or in vacation (was it Deandre a couple of years ago the one who said that he almost declined the all star nod because he had already made plans with his family before even knowing if he would be given the nod or not?) and low level are more likely on vacation or don"t consider they have enough of a voice.

I"m just saying that looking at this from another perspective and playing devil"s advocate it"s a classic anti union move. My mother used to work for one and depending on the situation you try to put a reunion date when you know people are most likely to make a no show so you can blame them for not caring enough to appear.

If players want to complain publicly about how the communication between players and refs is terrible and that there needs to be a change, an offer for them to meet with the refs to discuss that exact issue really shouldn"t need to be mandatory to get them to show up.

Was the meeting in LA? Cause if so, apart from the all stars themselves - a lot of the players live in LA. They were given a forum and didn』t take advantage of it at all

Some of them are. IT would have been good to deignate a player from each team to show and voice the concerns but they didn"t even do that. That said I think going forward the refs will care more about Dinwiddie and Iggy just because of that effort to show and trying to smooth things out and remove miscommunication.

Actually, ironically, them not showing up to the meeting is a sly way for them to continue complaining to the refs. Maybe they didn"t want to compromise because they liked bitching too much, and found that it generally worked.
其實，球員們拒絕出席會議本身也是一種暗中表達對裁判不滿的方式。也許球員們不願意妥協是因為他們喜歡抱怨這抱怨那，還覺得這樣挺管用，TX。
Finding a middle ground and talking it out would make their complaining on the court in the second half of the season more noticeable. To the refs that is.
如果這幫球員能參加會議，與裁判達成一定共識，達成有效溝通的話，那他們下半個賽季（全明星後）再抱怨的話，裁判也會格外注意，做出更加謹慎的判罰。

How much notice were they given? Did they make plans with the nbapa? Was this NBA sanctioned? Would any changes come from this meeting?

We don"t know the answers to these questions but they are important, the biggest being, would the refs be able to make any changes after this meeting. If not, make a better plan in the off season. Let the players association meet together and have it be a structured conversation.
我們都不得而知，但這些問題很重要，最重要的是：開完會之後，裁判們的吹罰會不會有任何的改進？要是沒有，這個休賽期得想一個更好的方案來解決這個問題。讓球員工會也一起參與會議吧，這樣的交流對話才有建設性啊。

Even we"ve known about this meeting months in advance with posts here. I think most players just don"t care enough about it compared to getting their much needed vacation.

There"s at least 15-20 players who really should have been there, both from a leadership perspective within the league (guys like lebron and chris paul) and people who complain about shit all the time (blake griffin and james "adolf" harden)
