無論是本科、研究生還是博士，又或者是藝術家文憑，弦樂系只專註於最高級別的演奏能力。
來自世界各地的優秀弦樂學生齊聚於布盧明頓校區，每個教師都有一個大約16名學生的工作室，他們每周都有專業課程。有才華的高中生也有機會通過學院的夏季課程與我們的教師一起上課。除了強調標準的現代弦樂器外，學生還可以在早期音樂和爵士樂中追求特別的興趣。同時還能有機會演繹新作品，包括音樂學院和學生作曲家的作品。
弦樂系每年都會開展4-5場獨奏比賽，兩場小提琴、一場大提琴、一場中提琴以及每隔一年會有一場低音提琴比賽。獲獎者將與學院管弦樂團合作。
美國和加拿大幾乎每個主要的管弦樂隊都有我們學院的畢業生，以及你能夠在世界各地的演出或者弦樂四重奏找到我們學院的畢業生。還有一些畢業生在公立和私立學校擔任教師或在大學、音樂學院任教。

Simin Ganatra
畢業於歐柏林音樂學院，在那裡她是歐柏林音樂學院管弦樂隊的小提琴首席。現為弦樂系教授和系主任，同時也是Pacifica Quartet第一小提琴。

Atar Arad

A movement from a major concerto
Two contrasting movements from one of Bach"s Sonatas or Partitas for solo violin (BWV 1001-1006)
Bachelor of Music (B.M.)
Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E)
Bachelor of Science in Music and an Outside Field (B.S.O.F.)
Applicants for the BM, BME, and BSOF programs should prepare all of the following:
The first movement of a standard major concerto with cadenza (if it has one), OR second and third movements of a standard major concerto.
Two contrasting movements of an unaccompanied partita or sonata by J.S. Bach.
研究生：
Master of Music (M.M.)
Performer Diploma-Solo Performance (P.D.S.P.)
Applicants for the MM and PDSP programs should prepare all of the following:
Two contrasting movements from a Bach solo sonata or partita. One of the movements should be the Ciaccona or a fugue. If the Ciaccona is chosen, an additional movement is not required.
An entire major concerto.
A Paganini caprice or some other type of virtuoso display piece.
Performer Diploma-Orchestral Studies (P.D.O.S.)
Applicants for the PDOS program should prepare all of the following:
The first movement exposition of one of the selected violin concerti:
Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Bartok No. 2
The first movement exposition of one of the Mozart Violin Concerti
Orchestral excerpts (these excerpts may be performed with or without music, at the discretion of the applicant):
Strauss: Don Juan: Beginning to 3 bars before letter D
Mendelssohn: Mid-Summer Night"s Dream Scherzo: Beginning to 15 bars after letter F
Brahms: Fourth Symphony, 4th movement Allegro energico e passionato: From 9 bars after letter A until letter D
博士：
Doctor of Music (D.M.)
Applicants for the DM program in violin should prepare all of the following:
Two contrasting movements from a Bach solo sonata or partita. One of the movements should be the Ciaccona or a fugue. If the Ciaccona is chosen, an additional movement is not required.
An entire major concerto.
A Paganini caprice or some other type of virtuoso display piece.
A sonata with piano (the sonata may be performed with or without music, at the discretion of the applicant).
