佛以方便 巧說妙法

方丈微語

佛在《法華經》中說：「諸善男子，若有眾生來至我所，我以佛眼觀其信等諸根利鈍……以種種方便，說微妙法，能令眾生髮歡喜心。」佛的目的是使眾生圓滿一切種智，希望眾生都能夠恢復與佛一樣的智慧德相，故以種種方便，說微妙法，利益一切眾生。

The words of Abbot

The Buddha preached the sublime Dharma intelligently in accordance with convenience.

In Saddharma Pun?d?arīka Sūtra (Lotus Sūtra), the Buddha preached: 「a nobly born son (kulaputra), if there are sentient beings that come to my place; I use my eyes (cak?u) to observe their root of faith and wisdom to see whether he or she has a sharp or dull faculty of wisdom. In accordance with different kinds of convenience or circumstance, I preach the sublime Dharma and make the people happy or joyful.」 The purpose of the Buddha is to make the people to fulfill all kinds of perfect wisdom and wish them obtain the wisdom and great marks as same as the Buddha. Consequently, the Buddha applied different kinds of convenience to preach the sublime Dharma to benefit all the sentient beings.
