眾所周知，「天球瓶」首見於明初，是時正逢穆斯林太監鄭和帶領浩大船隊下西洋之航海時代，天球器形可能取自中東回教銅器或料器造形。天球瓶器形盛行於乾隆一朝，可見各式釉彩、紋飾作例，然而類同此件拍品之粉彩桃紋天球瓶，鳳毛麟角，現知僅有寥寥幾例。試比較其他相類天球瓶，本品之桃實紋色澤粉柔，嫩黃漸變嬌紅，間綴巧致紅斑，桃葉扶疏，露桃枝曼妙之姿，尤其珍罕。

而此件乾隆窯粉彩天球瓶，繪桃樹一株，軀幹茁壯有擎天之姿，丫杈伸展虯勁有力。綠葉濃淡深淺，相背陰陽，完全來自畫師寫生得來，無一荒疏草率之筆。桃實的布局更體現傳統繪畫「攢三聚五」的法則，每隻壽桃也角度各異，立體感十足，印證了「清水之色便於堆填」的工藝特徵。桃花含苞欲放或全然盛開，皆具冰清玉潤之質，迴風舞雪之姿。桃樹之旁依偎月季一株，更顯謙遜不爭之德。在雍正瓷胎畫琺琅器物中，「月季」也是出現頻率較高的花卉。此瓶之上雖屬配角，但姿態鮮活且設色艷麗，依舊有「朝朝籠麗月，歲歲占長春」之韻致。瓶體胎質堅實，白釉如脂，底部施白釉，正中落「大清乾隆年制」款，款識書寫勁道；與北京故宮博物院所藏「清乾隆粉彩九桃天球瓶」完全一致，且與1996年香港蘇富比所售「清雍正粉彩九桃天球瓶」比較，二者畫面布局、彩料質感與繪畫技法極為相似。粉彩九桃天球瓶如靨笑春桃的傾城佳麗一般，帶來了數百年前的一縷春風。

雍正官窯曾燒制粉彩繪桃實、月季紋樣的瓷器，常見大盤及天球瓶兩種器形。後乾隆也極其鍾愛此類器物，亦承襲燒造，唯在壽桃數量上與前朝有別，乾隆時多畫「九桃」，雍正時常畫「八桃」，固有「雍八乾九」之俗說。

雍乾時期「天球瓶」比例勻稱得當，在陳設瓶、尊類的器物中脫穎而出，深得帝王歡心，粉彩九桃天球瓶如靨笑春桃的傾城佳麗一般，帶來了數百年前的一縷春風。
