他們的專輯只賣出3萬張，但每個購買者都創建了樂隊

這個年代，所有人和事存在的意義，彷彿都是為了一個數字。

做App，下載量多少？做電影，票房多少？做視頻節目，播放量多少？做產品，銷量多少？工作，KPI怎麼樣？…

但是，數字真的能代表一切嗎？

1967年，一支名為The Velvet Underground的樂隊也曾被數字所擾。

他們發行了一張名為「The Velvet Underground & Nico」的專輯。據估計，這張專輯發行5年後銷量為3萬張。

作為對比，Beatles同一年5月發售的「Sgt. Pepper"s Lonely Hearts Club Band」僅用3個月便已經賣出250萬份。

但數字的慘淡，並不能遮住他們的偉大。

專輯封面上的黃色大香蕉，出自20世紀最著名的藝術家之一，「Andy Warhol - 安迪 · 沃霍爾」之手。哪怕你對他的名字感到陌生，也一定看過他創作的夢露肖像。

這張封面，成為音樂史上最著名的專輯封面之一。

更重要的地方在音樂層面。

在「滾石」雜誌評出的500張最偉大唱片中，「The Velvet Underground & Nico」名列第13，被評價為「史上最具先知色彩的搖滾專輯」。它的風格在當時非常先鋒，對日後的朋克、後朋克、噪音音樂等等均有影響。

有人說，雖然「The Velvet Underground & Nico」只賣出了3萬張，但那3萬張專輯的每一個購買者，後來都創建了一支樂隊。

數字層面的慘淡，與音樂層面的偉大，糾結在「The Velvet Underground & Nico」這張專輯上。

最能體現這種矛盾的，是今天推送的「Sunday Morning」。

專輯製作過程中，製作人已經開始擔心銷量慘淡，執意要求加入一首偏流行風格的歌曲。於是「Sunday Morning」成了專輯第一首歌，也是整張專輯最後完成的作品。

儘管「Sunday Morning」的風格偏流行，但樂隊仍不忘插入鋼片琴音效，進行新的嘗試。在主唱Lou Reed略帶女性化的嗓音下，這首歌還有一種娓娓道來的感覺。

明知數字不會好看，他們也沒有完全妥協。

最終，「Sunday Morning」也沒能挽救「The Velvet Underground & Nico」的銷量，卻寫在了搖滾的歷史上。

2013年10月27日，The Velvet Underground主唱Lou Reed去世，那一天，是個星期天的早晨。
