A Global History is the representative work of famous historian Stavriano, and it enjoys equal popularity with Toynbee"s Historical Research. It is widely known as 「one of the ten books that influence the world」 because of its unique perspective and accessible language.

本書的作者L.S.斯塔夫里阿諾斯教授（希臘語名：αριστερ? Στα?ρο? Σταυριαν??；英譯：Leften Stavros Stavrianos，1913年2月5日-2004年3月23日），是一名出生在加拿大的希臘裔美國人。他曾擔任過加州大學的歷史學教授，並憑藉著自己超群的學術成就榮獲數項大獎。

The author of this book is professorL.S. Steve Arnold(Greek name: αριστερ? Στα?ρο? Σταυριαν??; English name: Leften Stavros Stavrianos; February 5, 1913 - March 23, 2004,) who was a Greek-American born in Canada. He used to be a professor of the history department at the University of California and won several awards for his outstanding academic achievements.

Comparing with Historical Research, A Global History is like a primer. It introduces the general situation of the world that attracts more people to read.

A Global History is an internationally influential masterpiece of global history. It discusses the global civilization from Prehistory to the 70s of the last century. The book changed the traditional orientation towards the Western Centralism in global history study and established a contemporary concept with global awareness. – The New York Times. A Global History holds the main idea that 「The new era requires new study in history」 and aims to escape from the perspective of the West and analyze history in a global way. This helps beginners set up a modern view of history as well as ordering all main events in history and understanding the antecedents and consequences of these events. Although it collects general knowledge of history, still it investigates several vital history nodes, such as Europe in Late Medieval, and post-WWI and post-WWII. However, due to its generality, the book was written too rough in some parts of history, like American history and African history.
