24日，白宮發布特朗普給朝鮮最高領導人金正恩的一封親筆簽名信，宣布取消美朝領導人於6月12日在新加坡的會晤。
US President Donald Trump on Thursday sent a letter to the Democratic People"s Republic of Korea (DPRK)"s top leader, Kim Jong-un, to cancel their planned meeting in Singapore on June 12.
美國總統特朗普24日致信朝鮮最高領導人金正恩，宣布取消雙方原計劃於6月12日在新加坡舉行的會晤。
朝鮮當天剛剛宣布廢棄豐溪里核試驗場，特朗普就發出了這封信件。
特朗普在信中稱，他本來非常期待與金正恩的會晤，但鑒於朝方近來言論中展現的「極大憤怒和公開敵意」（tremendous anger and open hostility），此時舉行會晤是「不合時宜」的（inappropriate）。
信件全文如下：

We greatly appreciate your time, patience, and effort with respect to our recent negotiations and discussions relative to a summit long sought by both parties, which was scheduled to take place on June 12 in Singapore.
萬分感謝你在近日付出大量時間、耐心和精力，與我們就峰會一事舉行了一系列談判和討論。這場原定於6月12日在新加坡舉行的峰會，是我們雙方都期待已久的。
We were informed that the meeting was requested by North Korea, but that to us is totally irrelevant. I was very much looking forward to being there with you.
我們被告知，此次峰會最早是朝方提出的請求，但於我們而言，是誰先提出的完全不重要。我極其期待的是能在那裡與你相見。
Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting.
遺憾的是，鑒於你方近日言論中展現出的極大憤怒和公開敵意，我認為在此時舉辦這一計劃已久的峰會是不合時宜的。
Therefore, please let this letter to serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to thedetrimentof the world, will not take place.

美國當地時間24日上午特朗普在白宮發言稱，美軍已經做好應對朝鮮的準備。
...our military, which is by far the most powerful anywhere in the world that has been greatly enhanced recently, as you all know, is ready if necessary.

朝方：願意給美國時間和機會
據朝鮮中央通訊社報道，朝鮮副外長金桂冠表示，特朗普取消美朝峰會的決定與全世界的希望相悖：
I would like to take this expression of his stand on the DPRK-U.S. summit as a decision not consistent with the desire of humankind for peace and stability in the world, to say nothing of those in the Korean peninsula.
我願斷定，特朗普總統對朝美峰會的表態，是一個不符合人類希望朝鮮半島乃至世界和平與穩定的願望的決定。
朝方對美國取消「特金會」感到遺憾，但願意在任何時候與美國對話。
His sudden and unilateral announcement to cancel the summit is something unexpected to us and we can not but feel great regret for it.
（特朗普）突然單方面宣布取消會談，令我們感到意外，而且非常遺憾。
The first meeting would not solve all, but solving even one at a time in a phased way would make the relations get better rather than making them get worse. The U.S. should ponder over it.
當然不會一見面就能解決所有問題。但美國也應該仔細想想，循序漸進，一個一個地解決問題，關係畢竟會比現在要好，總不會更加惡化。
We would like to make known to the U.S. side once again that we have the intent to sit with the U.S. side to solve problem regardless of ways at any time.
我們再次向美國闡明，朝方願意隨時以任何方式坐在一起解決問題。
金桂冠還表示，美國單方面取消會談，令朝鮮重新思考「嶄新選擇的這條路是否妥當」。
The U.S. side"s unilateral announcement of the cancellation of the summit makes us think over if we were truly right to have made efforts for it and to have opted for the new path.
儘管如此，美國單方面公開取消會談，令我們再次琢磨朝鮮迄今所做的努力和嶄新選擇的這條路是否妥當。
But we remain unchanged in our goal and will to do everything we could for peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and humankind, and we, broad-minded and open all the time, have the willingness to offer the U.S. side time and opportunity.
但朝鮮要為半島和人類的和平與穩定竭盡一切的目標和意志是堅定不移的，願繼續以大方和開放的心態給美國時間和機會。

特朗普宣布取消與金正恩在新加坡的會晤後，北京時間昨天深夜，韓國總統文在寅在青瓦台官邸召集國家安全委員會常任委員舉行緊急會議（the urgent meeting of the National Security Council）。
文在寅對會晤取消表示「十分遺憾」，強調「朝鮮半島無核化和實現半島永久和平是不能放棄、也不能推遲的歷史性課題」。
"It isembarrassing and very regrettablefor the scheduled North Korea (DPRK)-U.S. summit not to be held on June 12," Moon said.
Moon said the KoreanPeninsula"s denuclearization and building permanent peace are historic tasks that cannot be delayed nor be given up.
此外，據韓聯社報道，韓總統辦公室想弄清楚特朗普此舉到底意欲何為：
"(We) are trying to figure out what President Trump"s intention is and the exact meaning of it," Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom told reporters.
青瓦台發言人金宜謙對記者們表示，「（我們）正試著弄明白特朗普此舉的目的和確切含義。」
彭斯曾說：朝鮮或與利比亞一樣結局
此前，美國副總統彭斯在福克斯新聞訪談中表示，「如果金正恩不能和美方達成協議，朝鮮可能會和利比亞有相同的結局。」
彭斯接受福克斯新聞採訪
"There was some talk about the Libyan model last week, and you know, as the President made clear, this will only end like the Libyan model ended if Kim Jong-un doesn"t make a deal," Pence said Monday.
「上周我們就利比亞模式有些討論，你知道的，正如總統明確表示的，如果金正恩不能達成協議，那朝鮮將會是利比亞模式一樣的結局。」
彭斯還說，這不是威脅（threat），更是事實。
"Well, I think it"s more of a fact."
「嗯，我認為，這更是事實。」
據朝中社報道，朝鮮外務省副相崔善姬表示，如果美國繼續發表敵對言論，開展敵對行動，她會向金正恩建議重新考慮朝美峰會。
Choe called Pence a"political dummy"for comparing Libya to North Korea.
崔善姬認為彭斯把朝鮮與利比亞相比，簡直是「政治蠢貨」。

Calling his remarks"ignorant and stupid",Choe said that Pence should seriously consider the "terrible consequences of his words" before making such comments.
崔善姬稱彭斯的言論「無知又愚蠢」，建議彭斯在做出此類評論前，先認真考慮下「他言論帶來的糟糕後果」。
不過，朝鮮還沒有進一步舉措呢，美國已經「快人一步」，取消「特金會」了。
