China』s National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center (NATESC) reported that the main pests and diseases in food crops have developed significant resistance to the most commonly used pesticides. In its annual pest mointoring, 60 sites in 19 provincial areas were investigated, covering 21 patent or off-patent pesticides including chlorantraniliprole, penoxsulam, quinclorac, dinotefuran, bensulfuron, bispyribac, and clodinafop-propargyl. NATESC said there is an urgent need of integrated and rotational measures and development of a better system to monitor risk and assessment of pest resistance.

Rotam do Brasil announced the launch of Rotaxil, a fungicide to combat white mold, a disease that affects several crops in the country. It is a product based on the liquid formulation procymidone, indicated for foliar applications (R10) and (R1+10 days) just before flowering. It aims to give preventive protection to plants against white mold. According to the soybean division of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa), the use of active principles procymidone and carbendazim when combating white mold with on-stage applications of R1 and R1+10 days controls 99% and 98% of the disease, respectively. The experiment was conducted on commercial soybean crops with a historic incidence of fungus in the municipality of Pitanga in the state of Paraná.
