above/over/on/upon都與「上面」有關，怎麼區別它們？

Ⅰ.above/over/on/upon都可以做方位介詞，「在……之上」
1. above著重指：在……上方，不一定含有垂直在上的意思。反義詞為：below.
The bird is flying low above the water. 那隻鳥在水面上低飛。
The aero plane flew above the clouds.飛機在雲層上飛行。
2. over表蓋在……上面，或鋪在……上面。此時不能用above.代替。含有垂直在上的意思。反義詞為under.
Spread the tablecloth over the table.把桌布鋪在桌子上。
They built a bridge over the river. 他們在河上架了一座橋。
3. on含有與表面相接觸的意思。
There are some books is on his desk. 他桌上有幾本書。
There is an oil painting on the wall. 牆上有一幅油畫。
4. upon也含有和表面相接觸的意思。與on沒有多大的區別，但較正式，口語中較少用。
He laid his hand upon the boy』s head. 他把手放在孩子的頭上。
