Harry woke at five o"clock the nextmorning and was too excited and nervous to go back to sleep. He got up and pulledon his jeans because he didn"t want to walk into the station in his wizard"s robes-- he"d change on the train. He checked his Hogwarts list yet again to make surehe had everything he needed, saw that Hedwig was shut safely in her cage, and thenpaced the room, waiting for the Dursleys to get up. Two hours later, Harry"s huge,heavy trunk had been loaded into theDursleys"car, Aunt Petunia had talked Dudley into sitting next to Harry, and they had setoff.
They reached King"s Cross at half pastten. Uncle Vernon dumped Harry"s trunk onto a cart and wheeled it into the stationfor him. Harry thought this was strangely kind until Uncle Vernon stopped dead,facing the platforms with a nasty grin on his face.
"Well, there you are, boy. Platformnine -- platform ten. Your platform should be somewhere in the middle, but theydon"t seem to have built it yet, do they?"
He was quite right, of course. Therewas a big plastic number nine over one platform and a big plastic number ten overthe one next to it, and in the middle, nothing at all.
"Have a good term," said UncleVernon with an even nastier smile. He left without another word. Harry turned andsaw the Dursleys drive away. All three of them were laughing. Harry"s mouth wentrather dry. What on earth was he going to do? He was starting to attract a lot offunny looks, because of Hedwig. He"d have to ask someone.
He stopped a passing guard, but didn"tdare mention platform nine and three-quarters. The guard had never heard of Hogwartsand when Harry couldn"t even tell him what part of the country it was in, he startedto get annoyed, as though Harry was being stupid on purpose. Gettingdesperate, Harry asked for the train that leftat eleven o"clock, but the guard said there wasn"t one. In the end the guard strodeaway, muttering about time wasters. Harry was now trying hard not to panic. Accordingto the large clock over the arrivals board, he had ten minutes left to get on thetrain to Hogwarts and he had no idea how to do it; he was stranded in the middleof a station with a trunk he could hardly lift, a pocket full of wizard money, anda large owl.
Hagrid must have forgotten to tell him somethingyou had to do, like tapping the third brick on the left to get into Diagon Alley.He wondered if he should get out his wand and start tapping the ticket inspector"sstand between platforms nine and ten.

第二天，哈利早上五點就醒來了。他又興奮又緊張，再也睡不著了。他從床上爬起來，穿上牛仔褲，因為他不願穿巫師長袍進火車站——他準備上車再換。他又核對了一遍霍格沃茨開列的購物單，看需要的東西是否都買齊了，再看看海德薇是不是好好地關在籠子里，之後就在房間里踱起步來，等候德思禮夫婦起床。兩小時後，哈利沉重的大箱子終於被抬上了德思禮家的汽車，佩妮姨媽說服達力坐到哈利身邊，他們就上路了。
他們十點半鐘來到國王十字車站。弗農姨父把哈利的皮箱放到手椎車上．幫他推進站。哈利正在琢磨弗農姨父為什麼一下子變得出奇地好，弗農姨父突然面對站台停下來不走了，心懷鬼胎地咧嘴一笑（with a nasty grin on hisface）。
「好了，你到了，小子。第9站台——第10站台。你的站台應該是在這兩個站台之間吧，可看起來好像還沒來得及修建呢，是吧?」
當然，他說得不錯。在一個站台上掛著一塊大大的9字塑料牌，另一個站台上掛著大大的10字塑料牌，而兩者中間什麼也沒有。
「祝你學期順利，」弗農姨父說著又咧嘴一笑，顯得更沒有好心。他沒有再說什麼就走開了。哈利轉身眼看弗農一家開車離去。他們三個人都在哈哈大笑。哈利覺得嘴有點兒發乾。他究竟該怎麼辦呢?因為海德薇，他已經招來許多好奇的目光。他得找人問問。
他攔住一個過路的警衛，但不敢提943站台。警衛從來沒聽說過霍格沃茨。當他發現哈利甚至說不清霍格沃茨具體在什麼地方時，他開始生氣了，認為哈利故意裝傻愚弄他。哈利實在沒轍了，只好問十一點發出的列車有幾班。警衛說一班也沒有。最後警衛邁著大步走開了，一路抱怨有些人專門浪費別人的時間。這時哈利告誡自己盡量不要驚慌失措。到達列車時刻表上方的大鐘顯示，再過十分鐘他就該登上開往霍格沃茨的列車了，可他一點也不知道該怎麼辦。他身邊是一隻他簡直提不動的大箱子，滿滿一口袋魔幣和一隻大貓頭鷹，他站在站台中央，一籌莫展。

英語里的分數該怎麼表達呢？
一般用「基數詞＋序數詞」表示
分數在英語中通常是藉助於基數詞和序數詞來共同表達的。其中基數詞表示分子，序數詞表示分母。
如：The centimeter is one-tenth of the decimeter or one-hundredth of the meter．
厘米是分米的十分之一，或者說是米的百分之一。
分子除用one外，也可用a；如果分子大於1，分母要用複數形式。但是，1／2不能說a（one）second，而要說a（one）half。
1／4和3／4可以說a（one）fourth和three fourths，但常用a quarter和three quarters表示。應該注意的是，分數修飾名詞時，若該名詞是不可數名詞只能用單數；若是可數名詞，用單數或複數均可。但是，若它們在句子中作主語，則謂語動詞是用單數還是複數取決於名詞，即與分數所修飾的名詞保持一致。
例如：Only one-fifth of air consists of oxygen．氧氣只佔空氣的1／5。
About two thirds of the students attend the meeting．大約2／3的學生都參加了會議。
