BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY:

Breed is of ancient and pureorigins, oldest of sporting gundogs; original purpose was finding andspringing game for net, falcon or greyhound. Now used to find, flushand retrieve game for gun.

GENERAL APPEARANCE:

Symmetrically built, compact,strong, merry, active. Highest on leg and raciest in build of all Britishland Spaniels.

BEHAVIOUR/TEMPERAMENT:

Friendly, happy disposition,biddable. Timidity or aggression highly undesirable.

HEAD:頭部

CRANIAL REGION:顱部區域

Skull:Of medium length, fairly broad, slightly rounded, rising fromforeface, making a brow or stop, divided by fluting between eyes,dying away along forehead towards occipital bone which should notbe prominent.

FACIAL REGION:面部區域

Nose:Nostrils well developed.

Lips: Fairly deep and square.

Jaws/Teeth:Jaws strong, with a perfect, regular and completescissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth and set

Cheeks: Flat.

Eyes:Medium size, almond-shaped, not prominent nor sunken, wellset in (not showing haw), alert, kind expression. Dark hazel. Lighteyes undesirable.

眼睛：中等大小，杏仁狀，既不突出也不凹陷，位置恰當（不見瞬膜）。神情警覺，友善。呈深褐色。淺色眼睛不理想。

Ears:Lobular, good length and width, fairly close to head, set in linewith eye. Nicely feathered.

NECK:Good length, strong and muscular, free from throatiness,slightly arched, tapering towards head.

BODY: Strong, neither too long nor too short.

Loin:Muscular, strong with slight arch and well coupled.

General appearance:Hind legs well let down.

Hock: Moderately bent. Coarse hocks undesirable.

Hind feet: Tight, compact, well rounded, with strong, full pads.

GAIT/MOVEMENT:

Strictly his own. Forelegs swing straight

forward from shoulder, throwing feet well forward in an easy freemanner. Hocks driving well under body, following in line with

forelegs. At slow movement may have a pacing stride typical of thisbreed.

COAT:被毛

Hair:Close, straight and weather resisting, never coarse. Moderatefeathering on ears, forelegs, body and hinquarters.

Colour:Liver and white, black and white, or either of thesecolours with tan markings.

FAULTS:缺陷

Any departure from the foregoing points should beconsidered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be

regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree and its effectupon the health and welfare of the dog and on its ability to performits traditional work.

DISQUALIFYING FAULTS:失格缺陷

Aggressive or overly shy.

Any dog clearly showing physical or behavioural abnormalities shall be disqualified.

N.B.：

Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fullydescended into the scrotum.

Only functionally and clinically healthy dogs, with breed typicalconformation, should be used for breeding.
