自明代以來，憑藉九龍江河口的優越區位，廈門港成為了中國東南最為活躍的港口之一。自1920年代以來，經歷了政府填築以獲得公有土地出賣和水上人自發佔據並逐漸合法化的過程，在這兩種土地所有權產生的方式中，城市空間的形成亦受到多重來自正規與非正規性力量的塑造。廈門港避風塢水上人的居住空間再實踐，大致經歷了「常年舟居－濱水魚寮－上岸定居」這三個過程，完成了融入陸地社會空間系統的過程。近十年來，由於水上社區獨特的社會空間特性，廈門港沙坡尾避風塢區域成為了這場都市漁村轉型實驗場中核心地帶。本次展出作品所指的「競爭性景觀」即自發的消費性景觀與原有的風土街區在時間維度下的空間競爭性過程。作品將從「從水上到陸地」，「從都市漁村到旅遊目的地」，「從日常景觀到競爭性景觀」，「從水上信仰到文化嘉年華」等內容展開，以期呈現出廈門港水上聚落近百年的社會空間變遷圖景。

Since the Ming dynasty, Xiamen harbor has been one of the most active harbors in the southeast region due to its advantageous geographical location. From the 1920s, it has experienced the government filling up the public land to put it on sale and the legalization of the informal occupation by the boat people. These two types of land ownership are the reason for the formation of the urban spaces which are shaped by multiple forces, both formal and informal. From the 1920s to the 1990s patterns of living among boat people there evolved according to the following sequence: first, living aboard a boat for a number of years; second, living in an informal house along the waterfront; and third, settling permanently on the land or migrating elsewhere and eventually integrating into the land spatial environment. Due to its unique social-spatial characteristics, the typhoon shelter area has become the core of the urban transformation experiment field and rapidly transformed into a gentrification space in recent years. Subsequently, these consuming landscapes quickly occupied the entire neighborhood. The "contesting landscape" referred to in this exhibited work is the spatial contesting process of the spontaneous consuming landscape and the original vernacular neighborhood during the transformation period. This work is presented in a chronological order: "from water to land", "from the fishing village to the tourist destination", "from everyday landscape to contesting space", "from fishing ritual to cultural carnival". It aims to present the socio-spatial transformation of Xiamen harbor in the past century.

關於藝術家/About Artist

田恆德

田恆德是香港中文大學建築學院副教授與城市設計碩士課程主任，蘇黎世聯邦理工大學博士。他的研究關注亞洲城市的公共空間與社區賦權等議題。自2013年起，他發起了「妙想氈開：社區空間再想像」等系列項目。他是都市實驗室＋與國際城市論壇等多個國際網路的香港合作方，也是德國的註冊建築師與香港城市設計協會的創會成員。

Hendrik TIEBEN is an Associate Professor and Director of the MSc in Urban Design programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). His research focuses on public space and community empowerment in Asian cities. Since 2013, he developed the project Magic Carpet – Re-envisioning Community Space. He is the Hong Kong partner of different international networks such as Urban Lab+ and the International Forum on Urbanism. Hendrik Tieben is a registered architect in Germany and a founding member of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design.

陳永明

建築學者及策展人，香港中文大學建築學院博士候選人，香港中文大學城市設計碩士課程助教，加州大學伯克利分校訪問研究員，美國建築歷史學家協會成員。研究方向為城市設計與城市更新，東亞建成環境與建成遺產研究，空間政治經濟學與空間人類學，社區營造與市民參與等跨學科議題。曾榮獲包括UIA，Archiprix等在內的多項國際建築設計大獎。近期任第15屆威尼斯建築雙年展參展人，第七屆深港城市建築雙城雙年展參展人等。

Yongming CHEN is an architect, curator, and Ph.D. Candidate at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). In the CUHK M.Sc. in Urban Design programme, Yongming contributes to the introduction to urbanism and visualization course, as well as studios, workshops, reviews and tutorials. He also acts as a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley and a member of the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH). His research specialises in trans-disciplinary issues of rapid urbanization, urban regeneration, heritage, culture, identity and public engagement. He is the recipient of numbers of international design awards, including Archiprix International Moscow 2013 (Hunter Douglas Award), UIA 2011 TOKYO International Competition (Honorable Mention), etc. Recently, he was the exhibitor of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition, the Venice Biennale Architettura and the 7th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism Architecture, etc.
