Everyone was surprised when Demar said he had depression. It was seen as a great leap forward when Kevin Love admitted to having panic attacks. Reading about Shane Larkin』s OCD made me sympathize with him a lot more.

Then Joey Crawford admitted to having anger issues, and everyone was left wondering why this was news-worthy.

On a serious note, anger problems can be a serious mental health concern and it』s great seeing them talked about explicitly that way. Also, don』t yell at refs.

The refs have the worst of it. There are no fans of refs. Every fanbase thinks the refs are enemies and blow every call. There are no letters of support or Twitter messages of thanks.

As somebody who has reffed low-level basketball for a number of years, this was a good read. You really do take a remarkable amount of shit - players, coaches, parents, you name it - and it"s not always easy to deal with.

I will say there"s an advantage, I"ve had managers like that. The ones that yell at you rarely officially write you up for anything. Your record is clean. My nicer managers will just write you up, that"s all they know how to respond.

Give me the verbal abuse over the write ups any day. But that"s me and my experience anyways.

It takes the kind of thick skin I"m not sure I have. Even middle school officiating seems like the worst to me. Officials never call perfect games, which means they always do at least one thing wrong a game (usually much more), which means at least half of a given gym or arena, at any given time, feels vindicated in verbally abusing them for their imperfection, however fleeting that imperfection may have been.

這種厚臉皮我應該是沒有。就算是吹罰中學的比賽對我來說也已經夠難受的了。裁判不可能做出完美的判罰，也就是說每場比賽里他們至少會犯一次（一般會更多）錯誤，這意味著無論在什麼時間，什麼場地里，總有一半的人覺得因為裁判犯了錯誤，所以自己有正當理由對裁判進行言語攻擊。無論這個錯誤有多麼微不足道。

Bro even when you make the correct call, half the people hate you.

People on this sub in the finals were upset that the refs made a correct call on that Lebron block charge play. To be fair, some were upset that the refs used a shady tactic to initiate a review to overturn it but every time I even had he audacity to ask why it was a bad thing that the refs got the call right, I was downvoted to oblivion

老哥，就算你做出正確的判罰，也總會得罪一半的人啊。

Man being a ref sucks sometimes. I"m a soccer ref in Ontario and man it"s not usually the players that are bad, it"s the parents and coaches especially at the younger ages. At 14+ it"s the players god do I hate parents who assume any contact is an immediate foul

People really need to remember that refs are people too, and while they will make bad calls from time to time, you shouldn"t go mental on them.

I think it was Walt Frazier who said that refs make mistakes and that』s why he never got mad. If they missed a call that would have benefitted him he didn』t scream in their face because sooner or later they would make a call that benefitted him. Refs were never out to get him like some of these players today think
