有顏值更有愛的創意餐具，做它的材料你卻想不到！

前幾天東方君的朋友圈被印度大叔發明的能吃的勺子刷屏，看得心痒痒都想去買幾把用用嘗嘗。這幾天又看到德國人的環保創意，不禁大為讚歎，真是不僅養眼還十分有愛。不信，就一起來了解他們的綠色創意吧。(英文原文只有317詞哈)

We』re becoming more aware every day thatthe resources we have on Earth are not going tosustainus forever if we use them irresponsibly.

開門見山，要珍惜資源——地球資源有限，濫用，必然會有窮盡的那一天。劃線的句子十分漂亮，完全可以直接用於環保類作文寫作，建議親們拷貝，粘貼，收藏。裡面還有一個用得很到位的詞sustain。這個詞柯林斯詞典是這麼解釋滴：If something sustains you, it supports you, by giving you help, strength, or encouragement. 你肯定看懂了，也由此知道這個詞怎麼用：sth. sustains sb.

One way in which we could all consume less is if our daily products were designed to be more eco-friendly, particularly when it comes to disposing and reusing these materials.Behold(看)a new plate that is 100%biodegradableand made from—wait for it—leaves.

針對上一段提出的觀點，這裡立馬給出一個解決方案：日用品儘可能環保設計。之後直接引入本文主角——樹葉製成的環保餐盤。裡面的biodegradable估計很多人都不認識，不要緊，一起來猜猜看。Bio-，常見的前綴，一般都和生物相關；de-，詞綴，一般表示負面的，相反的；結尾的-able，形容詞詞綴，剩下中間的這不就是grad(e)嗎？級別。大概能推測是：(bio)生物(de)降低(grade)級別(able)的。再結合常識，基本就可以理解了。這個詞意思就是「可生物降解的」。

Inspired to create tableware that could be used in the outdoors and wouldn』t pollute the environment once people were done eating, the genius design from the people at Leaf Republic has meant that by usingCAD software(CAD製圖軟體，理科的童鞋眼熟吧). The team has created abiodegradableplate that will go back into the earth as easily as a leaf falling from a tree.

According to theirKickstarter, the project began in designers Pedram Zolgadri and Carolin Fiechter』s living room as they pressed the plates together using a foot-powered stamping machine.

這段有個背景要了解：Kickstarter。Kickstarter於2009年4月在美國紐約成立，是一個專為具有創意方案的企業籌資的眾籌網站平台。該網址致力於支持和激勵創新性、創造性、創意性的活動，通過網路平檯面對公眾募集小額資金，讓有創造力的人有可能獲得他們所需要的資金，以便使他們的夢想實現。

However, since then the project hastaken offand now Leaf Republic has created a beautiful, eco-friendly product whichis comprised ofa group of leaves that are sewn together using fibers from palm leaves. Then the plates are made by compressing three layers together, a bottom layer of leaves, a middle layer of paper made from leaves, and then a top layer of leaves.

英文寫作的邏輯很嚴謹，前面介紹了產品名和產品設計背景，這段詳細解釋產品的製作。本段比較簡單，留意兩個短語，一個是take off，這裡指項目「啟動「；一個短語是be comprised of，意為「由……組成/構成」。

Decomposing over 28 days, the product would be ideal for those who are travelling or camping in areas where finding places to safely dispose of rubbish is difficult, even perhaps in refugee camps where resources are scarce.

Another fascinating feature of the leaf plate is that it』s waterproof, meaning that it』s far more likely to hold up better than one of those shoddy paper plates you eat off at barbeques.

是產品總有特點。純粹用樹葉製成的餐盤，環保自然不用說，第一個特點出來了。然後呢，作為餐具，那當然還得防水嘍。防水效果如何，下面有圖為證。

題外話：

東方君在查資料選文章的時候，專門跑去Leaf Republic的官網，深深為官網的一段話感動，那是別人問及他們為什麼要這麼做時，他們的回答。

Because we spend only a brief moment on this world. Everything we own is only temporary. What really counts is what we create, what we build up. What counts are our actions and our decisions. They last forever. They make up the true value of our being.

人生在世只是一瞬間，身邊物皆是過眼雲煙。真正讓我們的存在有價值有意義的在於我們創造了什麼，建立了什麼，做了什麼。這有這些東西才會永存，才可以定義我們存在的價值！

相比於樹葉餐盤在28天內的全部降解，塑料餐盤的自然降解要耗時750000天！我們或許發明不了什麼環保的用品，但我們至少可以做到少用、少丟棄塑料製品。
