如果你要是還沒聽過MR是啥？那以後淘寶都用不了惹,所以本期科技密碼為大家介紹最前端的科技MIXED REALITY-混合現實。

WHAT IS MIXED REALITY?

Mixed reality (MR) is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality takes place not only in the physical world or the virtual world, but is a mix of reality and virtual reality.

TYPES OF MIXED REALITY

This spectrum (i.e. Mixed Reality Continuum)covers all possible variations and compositions of real and virtual objects. On the spectrum, beginning from far-left, is the natural world where nothing is computer generated. The most-right point on the spectrum, is the virtual environment where everything is computer generated.

SO, WHAT』S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VR, AR AND MR?

Virtual reality (VR)immerses users in a fully artificial digital environment. Augmented reality (AR) overlays virtual objects on the real-world environment. Mixed reality (MR) not just overlays but anchors virtual objects to the real world and allows the user to interact with the virtual objects.

FINE, WHAT CAN MR REALLY DO THEN?

Military training

One of the possible applications mixed realities is for training military soldiers. Training solutions are often built on Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) technologies. As of 2018, the VirTra technology is being purchased by both the civilian and military law enforcement to train personnel in a variety of scenarios, including active shooter, domestic violence, military traffic stops…Mixed reality technologies have been used by U.S. Army Research Laboratory scientists to study how this stress affects decision making. With mixed reality, researchers may safely study military service men and women in scenarios where soldiers would not likely survive.

GAMING

A gaming company, Epic Games announced the Unreal Engine 4.13 that adds support for developing mixed reality experiences. Like with Unity, a competing game development environment, a camera setup can allow video capture of you interacting with a virtual environment. The difference is between the first-person perspective you would see in a VR headset and a third-person perspective that renders what an onlooker would see. This approach makes for a more compelling demonstration of what makes VR immersive. It also allows gamers to fulfill a common dream: to actually see oneself inside of a game.

In the near future, now-familiar 2D websites will transform into vivid 3Dexperiences — turning online shopping into a whole new ballgame. Flat images will be replaced with 3D objects (mixed reality) that can be customized to meet shoppers』specific needs.
