「在……之前」是「precede」還是「proceed」？看了就懂了

v. 在…之前發生或出現，先於；在…之上，優於

It means that sth. happens before other things or comes before sth./sb. in order; or means that someone goes in front of others.

它指的是某事發生在其他事之前或在次序上先於某事或某人；或指某人走在他人前面。

During the years preceding the war, the contradictions deepened gradually.

在戰前的幾年期間，矛盾逐漸深化了。

The earthquake was preceded by a loud roar and lasted for a long time.

地震前有一陣巨大的轟隆聲，持續了很久。

After the meeting, Linda preceded him out of the room.

會議結束後，Linda先於他走出了房間。

Proceed /pr??si:d/

Proceed/pr??si:d/

v. 進行；前進；（沿特定路線）行進；（尤指打斷後）繼續說

It means to do a thing after doing something else first; or to continue doing sth. that has already been started; or to move or travel in a particular direction.

它指的是在先做了別的事後，去做某事（常用搭配是proceed to do sth. 接著做，繼而做）；或指繼續做已經開始做的事（常用搭配是proceed with sth. 繼續做/進行某事）；或是指在特定的方向上移動或行進。

After that, my mother proceeded with telling a story for me.

後來，我媽媽繼續給我講故事。

He raised some problems in our plan and then proceeded to give us some suggestions.

他先是提出了一些我們計劃中問題，接著又給了我們一些建議。

He climbed the steps and proceeded along the upstairs.

她爬上樓梯，順著向樓上走去。

最後總結一下，

「precede」是動詞，

表示「在…之前發生或出現，先於；

在…之上，優於」；

而「proceed」則表示

「進行；前進；

先做了別的事後，去做某事

（這時的常用搭配是proceed to do sth.接著做，繼而做）；

繼續做已經開始做的事

（常用搭配是proceed with sth.繼續做/進行某事）」
