Introduction to Master Hongyi"s Portrait Collection in Qing Dynasty;

Master Hongyi, commonly known as Li Shutong, was born on September 20 in the lunar calendar of the 6th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty ( 1880 ) in the home of rich officials and businessmen in Tianjin. He died in Quanzhou on the 4th of September 1942. He pushed the ancient Chinese calligraphy art to the extreme. As an eminent monk"s calligraphy, Hongyi is different from some monks and artists in history, such as Zhiyong and Huai Su. Although they are wearing robes, it seems that their whole life has not been aimed at firm Buddhist beliefs and sincere and practical Buddhist practice. They are just artists who have stayed in the Buddhist monastery, " crazy to light the world, drunk to gain true knowledge". This is entirely the temperament and romance of artists.

What is more valuable is that Li Shutong not only boldly introduces western art, but also attaches great importance to Chinese traditional painting theories and techniques, especially is good at integrating western painting with Chinese traditional art. The figure painting he painted is a combination of poetry and painting, with pictures and texts, which is praised by the world.

He devotes himself to Buddhism, does not eat after noon, carefully studies the discipline, carries forward the Buddhism, and helps all living beings out of misery. He is regarded as the 11th generation ancestor of the discipline by Buddhist disciples. The world"s evaluation of it is " calligraphy is like Buddhism, spread all over the world! Writing is like practicing, and the pen and the pen are all from the heart! "

He has left untold spiritual wealth for the world. His life is full of legends. He is a typical figure in China who is gorgeous and plain.

Recently, Xiamen Bodhi Richly collected a portrait of Master Hongyi of Qing Dynasty, with a vertical shaft and a collection size of 136.5cm wide and 68.1cm. The whole collection is completely preserved and the handwriting is clear. The beginning of the article reads " The Buddha Sage has never failed to face adversity ...." This is actually Master Hongyi"s profound knowledge of Buddhism. This portrait is rare in real numbers and its collection value is beyond description. His calligraphy is like a diamond in the rough, pure and neat. The elegance of leisure and simplicity, the simplicity of sincerity, the courage of character, the unpretentiousness of Confucianism, the naturalness of Taoism, and the serenity of Buddhism are all embodied in calligraphy. Those who hear words still smell Buddhism. Those who love and treasure are happy. Those who get them are as precious as arches. They can be called yi pin in the calligraphy yi pin of all Chinese dynasties.

Moreover, the collection is accompanied by the identification certificate of " Dan Guoqiang", a researcher at the Beijing Palace Museum. Teacher Dan Guoqiang is known as the famous expert of calligraphy and painting identification in CCTV"s " Treasure Hunt" column, who is " the first person to identify ancient Chinese calligraphy and painting".
