道光粉彩無論是官窯、民窯的傳世品都較為常見。從陶瓷史的發展角度分析，此時處於瓷業的衰退階段，官窯的技術水平雖然存在一定缺陷，但有些產品也可與乾隆、嘉慶比美。尤其是「大清道光年制」款或「慎德堂制」款的瓷器。慎德堂是道光皇帝在圓明園的住處，有此款的器物應為皇帝御用品，工藝非常精細，另外道光時皇親國戚增多，有些傳世品是他們當時訂製的「行有恆堂」款或「睿邸退思堂」款的白地粉彩瓷器也非常精細。總之，道光粉彩在前代基礎上還有一定的發展，也有本時代的特色，

粉彩是在康熙五彩的基礎上，受琺琅彩製作工藝的影響而產生的釉上彩新品種，它產生於康熙時期，以雍正時期製作最精，真正流行是在乾隆以後。

道光粉彩的款識也別具風格。以篆書為主，大多為六字三行式排列，也有極少一字橫列的。官窯年款是「大清道光年制」六字篆書圖章款，也有「道光年制」四字圖章款，楷書年款較少。青花或紅彩篆書者行筆圓潤流暢、緊湊。
