And Trump is at war with Democrats on multiple fronts, pushing many to call for his impeachment. Today former White House counsel Don McGahn skipped a House Judiciary Committee hearing at Trump』s urging. Last night, a federal judge ordered Trump to give financial records to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, which Trump will almost certainly appeal. The Supreme Court may rule on the constitutionality of these requests; and Noah Feldman suggests Trump』s financial records, including tax returns, are fair game for Congress, but McGahn』s testimony isn』t. Naturally, Trump disagrees with half that analysis. He and Attorney General/attack dog William Barr suggest they merely seek to protect the presidency』s constitutional power. But Tim O』Brien points out Trump』s opinions on the Constitution all have a common goal: protecting Trump.
