據美國媒體報道，9名留學美國亞利桑那州立大學（Arizona State University）的中國本科生，上周入境美國時被拒絕入境，並被遣返中國。

校方表示，這9名中國本科留學生是在中國過完暑假、返回美國時，在洛杉磯國際機場（Los Angeles International Airport）被扣留的。

The students were detained by Customs and Border Protection officials "over the last week," the university said in a statement Friday. The students were "denied admission to the U.S. to continue their studies" and were sent back to China, ASU said.

Sources close to the situation tell ABC15 that the students were in violation of their F1 student visas related to academic fraud. The sources said investigators apparently discovered evidence that the students were paying to have their school work completed for them, which is a violation of the F1 visa requirements and regulations.

Because of that, the students were sent back to China, according to sources.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in its statement that the students were not deported. Someone deemed inadmissible can reapply for a visa with the Department of State. They also say CBP has policies in place that ensure multiple layers of review when adjudicating a denial of admission.

The university said in a statement Friday that the detentions weren"t based on academic dishonesty issues, despite a media report to the contrary. Customs officials haven"t told ASU it was related to academic dishonesty, the university said.

"In fact CBP has given ASU no information on what has transpired," the university said.

If there were an academic dishonesty issue, that"s the purview of ASU, not customs officials, ASU said.

In that instance, the student claims customs officials found posts from people that included political views that opposed the U.S. on his friends" list.

The posts were not from the student himself, the student told the Crimson.
