2017 Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition

To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, The North America Photography Association partners with European Union Association to present the "2017 Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition", inviting both professional photographers and passionate amateurs from all around the world to participate. By presenting this event, the organizers hope to introduce Chinese cultural heritage and the joyous Chinese Lunar New Year to the world through camera lenses. Some winners of this competition will have the chance to participate in the 2017 World Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan. Their works will also be featured on the websites of the NGO members of the UN』s Asia-Euro Meeting.

The press conference of the"2017 Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition"was held on January 18th, 2017 at the Asian Cultural Center in midtown Manhattan. At the press conference, the organizers announced the competition』s submission guideline and awards. The Chinese Photography Association』sphotoint.netprovided support for this event.

The Chairman ofthe North America Photography AssociationWinston Zhou introduced that winners of this competition will be selected by a jury consisting of 10-15 acclaimed photographers. The awards for the winners are as follows:

2017 Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition

1stPrize: 1 winner will be selected and awarded $5,500 as travel allowance for him/her to travel with the acclaimed photographer A Liu』s team and take pictures;

2ndPrize: 3 winners;

3ndPrize: 6 winners;

Excellence in Photography: 20 winners;

Internet Audience Award: 10 winners

All award winners as well as other top 200 photos among the submissions will receive certificates. More awards and money prizes will be announced later as the organizers continue to invite new sponsors.

Giuseppe Sergi, the Chairman of the European Union Association， said that some winning photos will be presented at the EXPO 2017 Astana, which will take place from June 10thto September 10th, 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, the 53 member organizations of the UN』s Asia Euro Meeting and other UN members will also promote this competition through their online platforms.

The award ceremony and the opening of the 「2017 Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition Works of the global tour exhibition」 is tentatively scheduled to take place on the 5thof May at the Asian Cultural Center in New York. The tour schedule is listed below:

The past Global Chinese New Year Photography Competition presented by the North America Photography Association in 2016 received approximately 30,000 submissions from photographers worldwide. The submitted photos vividly captured various Chinese New Year celebrations by Chinese people all over the globe. After the pre-selection and 7 rounds of jury selection, 40 works were selected to compete for the top awards. The 1st and the 2nd prize winners were invited to participate in the one-month long 」 The Spirit of Eurasia Photography & Art Exhibition with the participation of ASEF?"On the Go"? hosted at the UN headquarter last year in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Asia-Euro Meeting.
