1911年12月29日，經辛亥革命後，已光復的17省代表在南京推選中山為中華民國臨時大總統。1912年1月3日，中華民國政府宣告成立，清朝滅亡，在中國持續2000 多年的封建君主專制隨之結束。開國紀念幣是民國時期流通的主要貨幣之一。是第一枚將大總統頭像替換皇家龍圖的國幣，這意味著宣告清王朝統治的結束，中國從此進入共和制的新紀年。

此件藏品正面圖案為中間是中山先生穿便裝浮雕側面肖像，包漿明顯覆蓋兩面及其少見。邊緣內上鐫中文隸書體「中華民國」四個字、下鐫「開國紀念幣」五個字、兩側刻有帶枝的梅花;背面圖案中央是嘉禾二株襯托著豎寫壹元字樣，兩側帶有梅花星點。背面中央為中文隸書體「壹圓」，邊緣英文「中華民國」、「壹圓」，左右分列六角星。直線邊齒，成色96%到96.9%，重27g，俗稱「孫小頭」。此銀幣尺寸標準、流通痕迹自然、品相上等，升值空間較高。

這枚「中華民國開國紀念幣」六角星銀元是存世量最為稀少的一種，可謂鳳毛麟角。藏品由於保存完整，其色澤自然包漿明顯，不論是文字還是圖案，都顯得自然細膩，深淺合適。在柔和的燈光下，銀元散發出一種淡淡的銀光；中山頭像更是栩栩如生，散發出一股王的風範和歷史沉澱的氣息。如今「開國紀念幣六星」流存稀少，現今尤顯珍貴，舉世難尋出幾枚，價值實在難以言喻。
