Strictly through a fan point of view, I would. I personally don"t want to do a full rebuild, it just doesn"t make sense to me. I want to know the general consensus of what r/nba thinks.

I"d offer him $165M, but not the supermax. Shooting doesn"t really fall off with age, and Lowry is a 41% 3-pt shooter who still has at least 2-3 more years in his prime left.

Let"s really sit and think about what truly is the difference between $165 mil and $205 mil?

$8 mil per year the last few years of his deal basically. Lowry is the key to that franchise and in the regular season a borderline top 10 player. Without him in many ways you are starting over. Either you pay him whatever it takes because you value you what you have or you don"t and you let him walk and start over. It"s not "oh we value what we have but not if we have to pay him $8 mil more per year".

Theres also no pt letting Lowry go but keeping the rest of the core. That team would go nowhere but also not be bad enough to effectively tank. So it really is either pay whatever it takes for Lowry if you value what you have or don"t and completely start over. Me personally I would bite the bullet and pay him whatever it takes but I don"t see the pt in only valuing Lowry under specific pricing

Lowry does way more for our team. He is the team. Derozan has become a pretty great player and is always going to be our guy, but Lowry just does way too much for our success.

It would suck to let him walk for nothing, but paying 30 mill a year for a 30+ year old is not ideal. If you rebuild the hope would be that once you are competitive again Lebron will be past his prime. If you let Lowry go you have to trade Derozan imo. Either keep the guys together and try and compete or go full tank and go for high draft picks

I definitely do not think he is worth the max for the raptors but I think he could be worth it for a team like the Bucks who need one more guy to contend.

I can see Raptors paying Lowry, maybe a 3 year + Team option contract? If not, who are they going to go with at PG? CoJo is a great player but I don"t see him giving the same production Lowry gave the past 5 years with the organization.

Yes. They"re not going to be a contender with or without him, but he"s a fan favorite and keeps them highly competitive at least. Traditionally, the Raptors don"t go to the playoffs every year like this. This is the best team they"ve ever had, I"d keep it together for a while and try to build a title team after Lebron retires.

The Raptors have to keep Lowry. They have to build around Derozan even though he"s not the best player on a championship team. However, they have no choice since they"ve put their eggs in this squad. A Valanciunas trade is their only other option.
