I did this for a few players, and most stars have positive impacts on average. None of them come close to Steph"s though.

Admittedly, small sample size is always a concern with on-off stats. There"s likely a lot of multicollinearity and much of this is the result of playing with Steph AND KD or Steph AND Klay. So don"t read too much into this.

Man, if you are a center how do you not want to go to Golden State? I can"t imagine what a dude like DeAndre Jordan would look like with Curry out there.

You would definitely need more context including total minutes with Curry to make sure the sample sizes are significant like with McCaw but I think if there are 2 things to take from this is that Durant is gonna Durant no matter what and Centers feast with Curry out there.

I think Javale"s off-season has been a good litmus test showing that teams are aware the Curry effect. Nobody has broken the bank to bring him in and he"s still out there available.

I think the fact that Durant is that much better with Curry on the court is really saying something about Steph. He makes the most efficient scorer in today"s NBA and perhaps all time more efficient.

Yeah, his relative lack of apg causes people to assume he doesn"t improve teammates to the degree of other historically great PG"s like Kidd, Magic and Stockton, when in reality he"s even more conducive to a free flowing offense giving the ball up early in possessions and shifting defensive coverage towards him even with the ball out of his hands. A GOAT level offensive player to be sure.

Steph Curry has a unique tool we"ve never seen: The ability to create a high-efficiency three-pointer while being guarded.

Most nba offences create an open three-pointer by trying to find an open man at the ark. Steph Curry doesn"t need to be open to make that shot efficient. He can create it off the dribble.

What this does is devastating. Most star players see doubles and help, but usually the help is there to stop them from getting to the hoop. This means the help is near the basket and can try to recover back to the play when the star passes. With Curry, you have created the double team 30 feet from the basket, which means that if the offense can find the open man efficiently, the help has no chance to recover: They are usually 10 feet behind the play.

Shaq and Jordan dominated their respective eras, but no one"s really had a season like Curry"s in "16.

Dude shot .669 TS% on a ridiculous 26.3 FGA/48. Guys like DeAndre and Tyson Chandler are extremely valuable for their ~.700 TS% at low volume. Then Curry goes ahead and basically triples their usage at a similar efficiency. Plus the steals, plus the assists, plus the good rebounding (for a PG). He"s one of those guys who has magic in their fingertips.

Steph better when the game flows, refs call fouls, and the pace is fast IMO, so nearly all the regular season. KD is better in the half-court, when refs swallow their whistles, and you need that one bucket to ice the game, i.e. the finals and the end of playoff games. Both are good anytime they"re on the floor, but that"s how I see their benefits to the dubs matching up.

I love Curry, but Durant was so damn clutch in the finals. I hate the streotype that Curry chokes, but Durant hit shot after shot when we needed it most.
