I would recommend Hungary. It is very safe to travel and really worth it because Budapest (the capital) is beautiful.

I would say United Arab Emirates would be my choice here.

For 2017 the Index found that the most peaceful nations are: 1) Iceland; (2) New Zealand; (3) Portugal; (4) Austria; (5) Denmark; (6) Czech Republic; (7) Slovenia; (8) Canada; (9) Switzerland; (10) Ireland & Japan.

The United States is ranked as the 114th most peaceful nation.

Many Americans believe that the world is not a safe place due to media reports of terrorism and the like.

First the best Answer could be any of the following; Japan (which is often number one on such lists) Switzerland Singapore Australia or Norway. There are many others but I just wrote the safest places I』ve actually been to.

I lived in the U.S. for 59+ years moved away in 2009 to find work and have been traveling and living overseas in Asia ever since. I』ve lived in a lot of places in the U.S. too—couple dozen I think. So the basis of my assessment is generally to those places in the U.S. where I』ve lived.

Most Filipinos are friendly and generous (although there is a lot of lying and stealing too) and despite the current stuff that is going on it is a very safe place to live if you』re not dealing drugs and stay out of some of the less savory neighborhoods.

All I will say is this: When I first arrived in Korea I was totally amazed to see young kids nine or 10 years old wandering around on the streets at 9 o』clock at night with nothing but a cellphone for protection. No adult was in sight that was personally invested in their welfare. I』m not sure I have lived in very many places in the U.S. where I』ve seen that. (None I think.) Same with Japan. Again the Philippines is a bit different but not a whole lot. I』ve been out and about rather late at night in my neighborhood and the only thing I』ve been made uncomfortable about is being propositioned by some ladyboy for sex. (and of course money.) I brush that off with a friendly greeting and a polite refusal and go on my way—maybe even offer to buy her some cigarettes and chat a while.

Those of you who are Americans might take umbrage at this lack of respect for the U.S. and point out that the Philippines is well the Philippines currently run by a lunatic and thug who thinks it』s okay to sanction murder in order to solve its drug problem—and oh there』s the occasional erupting volcano earthquake or one of those pesky typhoons roaring about and a problem with terrorists; that South Korea might get attacked by the North and Japan might have another devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world according to some sources so I guess that would be the safest country to visit. I live in Iceland and I feel very safe here I can walk around alone at night. We have a really low murder rate we』ve only had 2 murders this year and in the last 13 years we』ve had 3 years with no murders at all.
